Ported throttle body?

Saw a lot of talk before I signed up in the SS section about bo white and ported throttle body. I had a 2ss before I upgraded to the z28, but was wondering if anyone has ported the stock throttle body on the ls7? Slightly more throttle response? What else can be expected? Also am I seeing rite that the ls7 and the ls3 use the same throttle body? I'd like to purchase a 2nd oem one to have ported and keep the stock one intact.

Thanks

Don't waste your $. LS3 & LS7 throttle bodies are the same (90mm). If you upgrade the intake to a FAST 102 or an MSD, a 102 mm throttle body will fit. The 102mm is worth about 10rwhp according to the dynojet my car was strapped to when we did the swap. My suggestion would be to consider headers & a tune as first mods that actually help.

Thanks for the response. I want to do headers down the road, just rite now unsure of headers and a tune for the power train 100k warranty. I will have to check into the upgraded 102 intake along with the 102 throttle body. Thanks again

The 102mm TB and intake will require a tune as well...and also insanely expensive for just a few hp. Intake, 102 TB, and tune will be in the $2k range.

It's more for faster throttle response, rather than gaining HP. It makes a real noticeable difference, got mine from Bo. Didn't cost me $2K.

The stock engine response is pure doodoo in the Z/28. Best bet is to buy a Vitesse throttle controller, minimal install effort and your warranty will remain intact. Its only a throttle controller so it will not change any engine tuning parameters so it will not offer the super crisp response a tune will but its definitely a step up from stock.

Still not worth it IMHO...the throttle controller that helps the soggy LS7 feeling is a better choice

I you want something unreliable, then yes. Otherwise BW PTB is the way to go.

Stephen, what headers do you run? My driend bought 1 7/8" stainless works and even at parking lot it hits steering shaft, dimpled half inch and still hits so had to put solid engine mounts... With your grip I figure issue is bigger so curious what you run?

The only choices for the Z/28 are American Racing and Kooks. I have the American Racing and they fit perfectly. Kooks fit perfectly as well and I believe that their quality is similar when comparing the two. I modified nothing to install the headers on my Z/28 and the steering shaft clears by a lot. On a ZL1, the last set of Stainless works fit great and didn't require any mods to the steering shaft boot or otherwise.

Stainless work don't make header to fit the z/28. That why you had hammer on them.

I would think the ported throttle body would potentially void your 100K power train warranty as well!
