Plasti Dip Question

I am getting ready to plasti dip my black rims to cover up some curb rash just until my new set of wheels come in. My question is I want to use Camo Green but am concerned if it will work going on black. Do I need to use a grey or white layer first or will going directly on black be ok?

From what I understood is that if you use a white base the green would come out lighter, where if you were to use the black base it would come out darker.

Camo green doesnt need a base. Can spray it directly over black and it will build up color as expected

Since it is a rubber material, I don't think the surface color will matter on darker colors... I could be wrong. I really want to do this to my car one day as well.
