Share Your Performance Mods and Resulting RWHP Figures???
Greetings!
I've been in contact with several Performance Upgrade companies and they all seem to want to sell their standard "Package(s)". When I share with them that I'm targeting a specific HP number to stay with in NASA ST2 & TT2 HP/Weight guidelines it seems it's still the standard reply. I'm targeting 550 RWHP (Dyno-Jet). It seems I should be able to accomplish that with the right cam, header, tune combination. Would value some feedback on others modification results. Particularly if you've netted near that 550HP mark. Also, any recommendations on San Antonio or Austin area Installers / Tuners welcomed. Steve |

American Racing 2" ceramic coated LT headers and X-pipes, Taylor red performance wires, NGK plugs, and a dyno tune got me to 492 RWHP and 455 RWTQ.
I'm most likely doing heads, a cam, an atomic intake, and a new tune. My speed shop says I'll be 600 RWHP plus or minus 10 HP If they are right, I'll be in heaven! |

IMHO, these cars perform better (for most of us) on the racetrack with motors built and tuned for big, flat(ish) torque curves......and reliability. Peak hp builds are tougher to drive fast at the track. You can probably get your target w/o new heads, but I'd go ahead and get some (mostly for reliability). Add a conservative, roadtrack oriented cam and you'll be there.

It has been over 2 years now since my work has been done, so I do not fully remember all specs but my final numbers on a dynojet were 605 rwhp 555 rwtq.
Ported Heads Lg long tube headers X pipe custom cam (dont remember the grind) Fast intake NW Throttle Body Fuel rail Larger injectors e85 conversion Double valve springs Cromolly pushrods Titanium retainers Comp cams roller rockers trunion kit I am sure I am missing some small components, but the final numbers rock and with the spray, the numbers are 770/760 (175 shot) Monster Motorsports in Davie Florida did my work, Matt is the best! |

Advanced Induction Heads
B-3 cam by Race Proven Motorsports MSD atomic airforce intake no cats American Racing 1 7/8" headers NW 102mm throttle body ERL short block due to damage on cylinder 7 575rwhp/500tq...this is the best after at least 12 dyno pulls and it was really heat soaked. The cam is a little peaky for road course action but works well enough I'm not changing it. A Katech torquer would most likely be an ideal road course cam. If the car were fully cooled off and the tune was more aggressive my #s would most likely be in the 590/520 range.

578 rwhp and 532 ft/lbs tq.
Mods are: 2" ARH long tube headers with x-pipe and no cats Ported heads BTR Stage 3 cam FAST 102 and Nick Williams 102 Throttle Body Nice lumpy idle but very smooth and responsive and definitely a lot more grunt mid and top end. It does sound borderline offensive though (but I could always put the exhaust fuse back in which tames the sound down a bit). All work done by Jerry Aikman in Cedar Park and I wouldn't hesitate to use him again. All work done by Jerry Aikman in Cedar Park |
