Air Jacks, Centerlock wheels..?
Simple question really, has anyone fitted these to their Z/28?
If not Z/28, has anyone seen another Gen5 Camaro with Air Jacks fitted and have any pictures or a link to a build thread? Similarly does anyone make a centerlock wheel conversion for Camaros? Both mods are something I'd consider for frequent track use as I'll likely have at least a couple of sets of wheels and tyres (buying centerlock alloys is fairly easy for me in the UK). cheers, Patrick |

its not clear..an air jack to help jack the car up at the track??
Aren't those like floor jacks they use, why would you put an air jack into the Z/28's signature DSVV suspension pray tell, or the extra weight??

I'm assuming one would remove weight elsewhere to make up for the extra weight (not much at all) that an airjack system would add.

I've been to Hallet near Tulsa in mine, and theres no reason to have a jacking system installed, perhaps if you track a lot..a tow hook? I didn't see him in the registry, just a non owner wanna-be asking the Z/28 owners a dumb question

Yes I plan to track my car a lot. I don't have it yet although I have already parted with a deposit.. ![]() Generally air jacks only add 10kg to the car's weight, a small price to pay for the convenience at the track. The car will be getting tracked including in the rain so will have sets of wheels with wet tyres fitted. I've been doing some reading up on the subject and have a good idea of the spec of jacks to use, Nitrogen tank and handling safety, and pressure required to lift a Z/28. My question was really regarding if anyone has seen them fitted to a Gen5 Camaro so I could look at where they had found to position them around the sills/subframes. There's quite a few Corvettes running with them and I've seen on BMWs, R35GTRs and obviously common on Porsche 911s so I imagine it will be possible to fit them somewhere ![]() thanks for the trip regarding Forgeline wheel Pete, will give them a look. ![]() cheers, Pat |

You're right it would make time at the track much easier.
If you are ultimately going to do some form of amateur racing........... some have rules against it so try and consider that when making your decision. And don't forget to post pics. |

With a car the weighs almost 4000#s you will want to possibly use angle iron or other reinforment where attached to the frame to spread the load.

We were going to use air jacks on our car but decided against it as it added an extra50 lbs.
We are having Forgeline make us a set of one-off enter lock wheels on our G5.R. |

Pat
No offense, we see a lot of stuff posted by POSERs on the forum, so if your an owner, register in the registry and welcome aboard. However th weight of the car isn't like a Z06, you'll need to do something work to distribute the weight. The more you do the more weight you add. Good luck with the purchase, as you'll find it just about the best bad azz car there is-completely sinister and early (not quite) Z06 fast.
