SS / RS -- Snow Tires

Still debating if I am going to have to drive this beast in the Detroit winters, so in case I do, I checked into snow tires.

Recommended Snow tire sizes for the Camaro SS are (Pirelli Scorpion Ice/Snow)
Front: 245/45R20
Rear: 275/40R20

QUESTION: Will the smaller front tires also fit on the rear wheels? I always thought you should get the skinniest tire possible. Fronts are a little cheaper than rears too.

Also, I read in the forum here somewhere that you can't get a 18" Tire/Wheel package for the SS because the brakes are too big.

Anybody know for sure? What about a 19" tire/wheel set?
Thanks

Search, yes. But it's a good topic to come up every once in a while. I have a 2SS/RS coming in the next few weeks. I plan to put the Pirelli Scorpions on in November. 18" will definetly not fit. My dealer told me the stock 19" will fit over the Brembos. If you are looking for after market 19s, make sure you match all the specs correctly. Not sure I'd be comfortable putting a 245 on the rear (again, stock wheels), may work but you'd probably notice the wheel lip hanging out a little.

The off sets were managed to prevent that.

I just ordered a set of 19" ASA black rims $99 with 245/50/19 front, 275/45/19 rear Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow with tire pressure sensors, mounted and balanced. Roughly $1,500 shipped from the tire rack. Got them in two days I was shocked.

I went with the stock size in the back, one to protect the rim like another member said, two I have a wheel warranty/protection program through the dealer and they will only cover the tire if they are the same specs, so I didn't want to change the size too much.

They look great I will post pics if you would like...but I don't have them on yet.

I have an LT/RS and got a quote from Town Fair at 1160 (before tax) for the Pirelli Scorpions all inclusive...dealer says they can beat them but they're not open today

Just bought the scorpions.
I had them on a RWD TBSS and they worked great.
Now, what to do for summer wheels....

they do make bridgestone blizzak tires in the front wheel size...still don't know what to do about the rears....pirellis are too expensive...plus blizzaks have worked wonders on my fathers cts-v.

$1060 shipped

Just ordered Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow. (275/245)
I had these on my RWD TBSS and they're great!

Tire Rack called me to say the 275's were on back order with no ETA.
When I mentioned I saw runflats listed in the past, he dug around in the computer some more and found more coded "N0 Porsche XL"
They're not runflats but they are exactly like the scorpions I ordered, just coded as OEM Porsche approved, Cayenne I'm guessing.

Anyway, they're $2 cheaper and they're on the way.

If yall want to go this route, get them fast because there's a few thousand people that are going to need them and not many of them are left. He had no lead time on the filling of back orders. (13 orders at the time of the call)

Now, I just need a summer wheel set, CCW, Nutek, I don't know. I'll have the winter to decide.
