Adding sub to factory BA system

I have the BA 9 speaker factory set up in my 14 RS. I'm curious if the factory amp can power a 10" sub cleanly without overheating or needing additional amps. I'm thinking I could use the *****thump harness to plug in a sub but want to make sure the system can handle it and provide better sound.

Thanks for your advice

I wouldn't, get the harness that allows you to add an amp, that's what I have and it made it soooooooooooo easy!

pun intended?

You need a mono amp to add a sub, there are diagrams on here of which wires to tap off of the factory amp. I did it easily without that harness. s ubthump makes a nice side stealth box with amp shelf built in.

ensure your amps can take hi level inouts via RCA. otherwise your rca cables get real hot and your sound will screech. Amps by JL and kicker are the only ones i know of that do at this time. Just a warning. Nearly ruined my good amps from back in the day because they falsify the information that it works with "ANY" amp. i had to get a LOC or a DSP to do the conversion.

I just tapped into the low level rear inputs at the factory amp with some female RCA plugs. Then just hooked up the amp using its low level inputs.
