JD Power: Camaro ranked highest with vehicle technology in the midsize segment

Quote:
DETROIT: 10 Oct. 2016 — BMW and Hyundai each have two models that rank highest in overall customer experience with vehicle technology in their respective segment, according to the J.D. Power 2016 U.S. Tech Experience Index (TXI) Study,SM released today.

The inaugural study measures a vehicle owner’s experiences, usage and interaction with driver-centric vehicle technology at 90 days of ownership. The major technology categories analyzed in the study include collision protection; comfort and convenience; driving assistance; entertainment and connectivity; navigation; and smartphone mirroring.

BMW models that rank highest in their segment are the 2 Series (small premium segment) and 4 Series (compact premium segment), while the Hyundai models that rank highest are the Genesis (midsize premium segment) and Tucson (small segment). Model-level rankings and awards include 2016 model-year vehicles that were all new or redesigned within the past three years.

Other models that rank highest in their segment are the Chevrolet Camaro (midsize segment); Kia Forte (compact segment); and Nissan Maxima (large segment).

Nice! It does not surprise me. Available technology on the base model is phenomenal.

I cannot believe that JDP considers the Camaro a midsize car??? WTF?

Yes, it has awesome tech. But it is far and away NOT a midsize car.

Sooner or later, this sort of survey topic was bound to show up.

But I agree, the way they seem to have cars matched up to categories needs work. A lot of it. If that list is complete, there isn't even a 'sporty car' category at all, and even Consumer Reports acknowledges the segment.

Sorry, but what are they even talking about??

"The Camaro has never been known for being on the cutting edge of high-tech equipment and gadgets -- and the new model is no exception. While the 2016 Camaro does add a few new features, such as a larger center touchscreen, a new drive mode selector and configurable LED interior lighting, it still doesn't offer items such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning or any of today's latest high-tech safety gadgets."

Seems to be customer satisfaction with the technology that's there. Not dissatisfaction with what isn't.

Camaro has none of the requirements for Top Safety Pick+.
No adaptive Cruise Control
No front collision detection
No front collision avoidance
