Valve noise on startup - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I'm at 1300 miles on my 2SS RS and have just started noticing a valve tick that is pretty loud for a few seconds on startup. The temps dropped into the 40's here recently and it's definitely only heard on a cold startup, so maybe it's just normal due to cold oil.

Anybody else noticed this, and is it something to be concerned with?

Seen more than one post of lifters being replaced.

Odds are it's just annoying and won't cause engine failure.

Most likely you are hearing piston slap. It is very common in cold LSX engines. Nothing to worry about though.
