2014 1ss 1le, salvage,value

First post but not my first camaro, need to justify the price for this one.
Tell me what you guys think.
2014 1ss 1le
4000 mi
First owner lost control and hit the front just to the left of the hood, drivers side. Wheel and suspension whacked along with the sheetmetal.
A friend of mine fixed everything, and yeah he's well qualified. I'm also a tech.
Silver ice metallic. Lightly optioned and runs as new. Salvage title is only downside.
Agreed on 20k, what ya think.

A restored salvage vehicle is worth about half of what a regular title vehicle is . And if you have an accident or it is stolen the insurance company will only pay about half of blue book . The reason the insurance company paid off the owner , and did not repair it is because it would cost more to repair than the vehicle is worth . As long as you understand all of that , you can make an educated decision . FYI ,and when you want to sell it most people don't want it or do not want to pay much for it . If none of that matters to you and you are paying cash and intend to keep it for a few years buy it cheap cross your fingers and enjoy .

nope not the case at all i talked to my insurance guy first and as long as the repairs are done with oem parts at a shop they pay what ever the market is at the time of the loss. and your wrong about the pay off as well anytime a permanent structure i.e something that does not unbolt is bent its a total loss all the new cars the core support does not unbolt so a lite front end hit will bend it and thats game over total pay off.did the home work !

If your happy , its all good . That will not change the blue book value and the title will always be branded restored salvage . It will also have a bad Carfax . I have been in the used car biz since 1995 and have gone through this many times. Due to the fact you car is a unibody if it is hit in a spot that can not be unbolted it now has frame damage per the insurance company and Carfax.

Salvage title is always hard to resell... buy it cheap and drive it till the wheels fall off.. literally...

OP the current salvage value is 10-15k and will never be worth more no matter what. Best to just drive and enjoy.

When I was buying recovered thefts at auction I was paying $4-6k for complete, undamaged cars (1le's, zl1's) missing just motor and tranny which was $6-9K on ebay etc. So for $10-14k I had complete, undamaged salvage cars that were selling for $20k when the market was mid $30's. No way I would pay more for a damaged "repair" than I did to put together a good one...............
