2010-2011 SS
Hello! all
I'm looking to get into a 2010 or a 2011 Camaro SS Coming from the Audi Scene and the Mini Cooper Scene Any major things I need to look at or be aware of on these cars? A plethora of things being replaced on the Mini PITA...My first and last.. Audi scene was good should have kept it... Any issues? On the SS? |

I love my 2010, but the 2012+ have upgraded suspensions so if you can swing it I'd grab a newer one. Now, you can swap the 2012 parts on for not too much money, but it's up to you.

If I had to do it over again, I would have gone with either a late-production 2011 or 2012 SS just for the suspension changes alone! A 2010 can be modified but I firmly believe starting with the better platform is wiser. (and cheaper) Scott

Other than AFM lifter issues on the L99 (auto) i cant think of any problems to be aware of..
Of course, since you're buying used, make sure the previous owners didnt beat the shit out of it. Check oil, ask for record of how its been maintained, if anything has been replaced, wrecked, the usual... |

Most of the '11 SS have heads up display, if thats something youre interested in.
The early '10 didnt have back up sensors in the rear bumper. Looking at pics they are little circles beside the reverse lights. |

I have had (2) 2011's one 2LT/RS and now a 2SS/RS, so far, I haven't noticed anything major worth mentioning. Luckily there isn't a plethora.
Good luck on your hunt and make sure you update with pictures.! |

Nice!! Ok..I will look into the 2012-13' SS Thanks...
I did some research and I read somewhere that the Camaro will just shut down with no explanation... One in particular says she took it to the dealership and they could not figure why this would accur... Driving and everything died..engine just shut down? weird? Any truth to this? I know my Audi would go to limp mode..due to spikes in psi..but that was the turbo system I had it set too high I would shut down and would start back up then I lowered the psi setting...So no Camaro has a Turbo so safe to say I'm safe with that... |

I had a 2010 2SS LS3 I put 17k miles on in 3.5 years. Never had a minute's trouble with it. I've had the ZL1 almost 4 yrs with 17k miles and no issues.

With the above suggestions, the only problem you may have is having a major grin from cheek to cheek that you won't be able to get rid of. Your dealing with a different breed with muscle.

I'm pretty sure the new mustangs are slower than the old ones and if that doesn't tell you what direction ford is going in I don't know what will

I do agree with you but, without knowing the previous owner, you have no way to know for sure if the car wasn't demodded prior to selling; especially if the car is being sold at a dealer where you can't even talk to the previous owner. That said, do try to dig around and look for evidence of prior mods done to the car even if at a glance the car looks 100% stock. Depending on how well (or poor) they were done, you can sometimes easily notice if a car had been modded previously. Run FAST if you notice any holes in the trunk carpet where a nitrous bottle may have sat... |
