Recommendations for washing kit
Hello, I'm looking for a kit that has everything i would need to perform a full exterior detail. Ill be honest, i don't really have a clue about this kid of stuff and I'm looking for help. I've done some reading on the forum and still don't completely understand everything. As of now, i have came up with Zainos ultimate kit, i think this is a good one but i don't really know. if anyone can recommend a kit to me that has everything i would need, that would be extremely helpful. Also, would it be better to just buy everything separate? Im looking for products that are high quality, i don't mind paying little extra for the best. Thank you.

How much you looking to spend?
Also, if you get a bundle kit you are for sure going to save some money. Basic Wash Kit: Chemical Guys:http://www.chemicalguys.com/Best_Car...s_p/hol121.htm Adam's Polishes: http://adamspolishes.com/shop/kits/w...h-wax-kit.html Wash, Wax, More Products: Chemical Guys: http://www.chemicalguys.com/Best_Two...t_p/hol129.htm Adam's Polishes: http://adamspolishes.com/shop/kits/w...etail-kit.html A lot of options out there. I am a BIG fan of Adam's products and have nothing bad to say about Chemical Guys. Adam's is a little easier to use and you will get great results.

Spending more money doesn't always equate to best value for quality in all cases when in comes to car care.
I've tried many different brands, spent thousands of dollars, and for best value for quality, for car washing, here are the ones I've found to produce great results. Some of them are expensive, but are worth the cost. Before I mention them, here is a video which explains how to properly wash your car to avoid damaging the clear coat. For your wash mitt and drying towel, Microfiber Madness Incredimitt and Dry Me Crazy towel. These aren't cheap, but provide safe washing and drying of your car, and if maintained properly, will last for hundreds of washes. Extremely high quality and durability. You'll want to get 3 buckets with grit guards instead of two, as you'll want one for wheels only. Never use any wash media on paint that has been used on wheels. For your detail spray, Ultima Waterless Wash Plus Concentrate. From a cost vs. quality standpoint, this is an easy selection. A bottle makes 5.5 gallons of detail spray for around $4-$5 per gallon, very high quality product as well. As good as all the one's that cost up to 10x as much. Car shampoo depends upon what you want. Clean rinsing? Adams......Best cleaning?.....Ultima Paint Guard Wash.......Best smelling (to my nose) and lubricity?....Lusso Auto Bathe........Lusso is very expensive though.......Bubbles that last forever?........Duragloss 902.....A quality soap that does all of these pretty well?.....Optimum Car Wash Wheel cleaner? They all work well, but Adams won't make you want to throw up from the horrible smell like others will. All Purpose Cleaner? Shine Supply Solution, diluted 1 to 1 it cleans anything, no matter how dirty. So you get two gallons for $30. Excellent value for a great APC. If you want to buy a kit, I really can't recommend one, because they all come with 16/32 oz bottles of product. You'll save money over the long run buying things you use to wash your car by the gallon. Most of these products can be found at CarPro USA, and of course the Adams at their web store. You can use code 15off for a 15% discount at CarPro any time. The only thing they don't discount is Microfiber Madness/Rupes stuff. At Adams, use code Camaro5 for a 10% discount any time, or wait for one of their sales. Some of these products can also be found at Autogeek/Autopia, Detailed Image, and Detailers Domain. These sites run sales from time to time, with Autogeek having occasional 25% off and free shipping.

Car Cleaning Guru... I think every body that likes to detail cars have their channel saved on youtube. I agree with what Joe said, do some research, join the Autogeek, Autopia, Adams forums and see what they are recommending. The list above is a good place to start. I decided to simplify my life and after trying a few of the Adams products I decided to do the switch and slowly been replacing products. If you are not sure, do buy the 8-16oz to try them. But if you know you like it, or it is recommended by a good detail person, go ahead and get the gallon, it will save you a lot of money in the end. |

Here is a good thread that will give you processes for detailing your car. The only one that is obsolete is the claying.
You can use clay if you want, but an SM Arnold Speedy Prep towel (fine grade) does the same thing in less then 1/2 the time, and requires no pressure, so it's easier on your body. This thread should have been made a "sticky", for some reason it wasn't. ![]() http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...sses+beginners

Here's an article from a long time ago on the Two Bucket Method.
This is your basic routine wash and only includes towel drying. The idea behind the 2BM is to greatly reduce washing swirls. It does not go into depth regarding what I call a "Prep wash". A "Prep wash" would include wheels, paint decontamination etc. NOTE: Use a separate bucket, mitt and towels for the wheels! Do not use the same bucket, wash mitt or towels on the wheels. |
