Installed steel rotors on Z28
With this car this is my first encounter with carbon rotors. I do like them, but at the tracks I drive the pedal would would start to travel a bit more to the floor than I was comfortable, especially when needing to scrub over 100mph at some tracks to make your turn, and I use SRF, so it's not the brake fluid.
Plus the obvious consumables. I will say that after I burned through the OEM brake pads I weighed the rotors and they weighed .2 lbs less than new. Pretty impressive. So I went with Racing Brake rotors. Yes, they weigh more, check their site for specs. These are pics after 3 days at COTA. I am using their race compound, and its pretty good, but will switch and try something else. I now have shit loads of pad choices. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Nice!! I was looking into this option. Please keep us posted on how long they last. One thing I dont miss about steel is swapping pads from street to track to street. Did you get the 34mm or 32mm wide front rotors?

I've also experience soft brake pedal after 145mph hard braking sessions.
Definately thinking of going to steel rotors. Didn't know rotors were available in different thickness. Why did you go with 32mm? How does the pads look after three COTA sessions? |

Hold on a second... Now I'm no gera head, I say it all the time, but wasn't the Carbon Ceramic Brakes one of the main reasons we purchased the Z28??
I had a bad ass ZL1, and never had any brake fade, but was constantly warned that it was coming, and now we're switching back to steel rotors!?!? I'm so confused

To be honest, I also like the cool factor of the CCBs... "Ahh, where did you get those XL pizza pie rotors on the front of that camaro !! "

I had 16.1" rotors on my Charger, but they were in larger wheels. I got a few compliments from people that actually noticed them. I get way more in the Z28. People notice the rotors/calipers all the time. Weird.

CCM brakes are great, but I would consider this mod. The CCMs aren't any better than a steel rotor with a track pad like a DTC70/60 imho.
