2013 Convertible Rattling Door Panels...
i'm anal-retentive. i admit it. i had rattles in both door panels of my lovingly-cared-for 2013 rs. i added padding to the inside of the plastic door panels that helped for a while, but the rattles returned. the door panels are held to the metal part of the door by 7 push-to-fasten plastic devices. 5 white ones and 2 black ones. these hard plastic fasteners are free to move around in the mounts found in the plastic door panel. i fixed this by removing each fastener and applying a small amount of silicone caulking where it would no longer be free to vibrate within the mounts. The six or so metal clips along the top of the panel seemed to be secure in my car and needed no extra attention. nice and quiet now. if you do this, you'll need: 7 mm nut driver, T-27 torx driver, pick to remove door handle and rubber panel covering the 27mm torx bolt, upholstery removal tool is handy for removing the door panel with no damage to the fasteners.
hope this helps you guys... |
