First Round!

Here is the list below, I'm about to pull the trigger from JDP

The whole idea of this first stage of parts is NOT to tune it due to the factory warranty still having a little left on it.

Let me know if you think I'm missing anything.

I would ditch the ported TB, no real performance gains there. I would replace it with the D3 or other coolant reservoir. I am assuming you already have a CAI, if not that's a must.

I ran a 5% OD, Rotofab CAI and larger HX for a while and the car ran great.

Got the reservoir in there already and Intake with the big gulp kit. I heard there is a noticeable increase in HP from that throttle body, not to mention better response. Is that some oceanfront property in Arizona that I've been sold?

I bought the throttle body, car felt a little more responsive but I don't know if it had any positive or negative power gains

I tried it, wish i hadn't. I didn't feel any difference with it power wise other that it making the car feel overly sensitive during light throttle applications, which made launching the car inconsistent at the track. (I run alot of 1/4 mile passes, if there was a gain i would have noticed it). I took it off and sold it after a few months. They don't mess with the blade size, so the smallest part of the TB is still the same size.

Save that money for when you get to the next stage and just get a 90mm or larger. They are like 160 thermostat, some people swear that the it helps them, others swear they don't. I am adverse to spending money when i cannot prove an improvement.

Is that heat exchanger really that much better than an Afco at more than double the price?

That's true. There are less expensive solutions.

I agree, that is a bit pricey. Besides the AFCO, check out the Ron Davis. Both would be more than adequate and leave you some room to grow.

I see now, the $1100 includes the D3 reservoir also. Still pricey but good quality stuff.

No gain with the TB in you setup.. You will need to move more air with Cam, and bigger pulley before you see it's effects. I think Ted Jannety has a write up on it somewhere.

The Afco unit seems suited more for a drag racer so you could run the fans in the pits, otherwise I don't see much benefit over any of these. For a road racer I'd recommend the Ron Davis unit as it is not so big as to potentially block air flow to the radiator. I do not have any dyno comparisons, but all of the heat exchangers listed have very high quality cores and will greatly help with IATs.

Feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions.

Best regards,

Tyler

Anyone heard anything new on the Catch Can warranty issue? Last I read GM was voiding warranties if one was installed. I have one but have not put it in because I have a GM extended warranty till 2019.
