MTI Racing Camaro 182 mph at Texas Mile
This was MTI Racing's first top speed run at the Texas Mile in our newest test vehicle. We set the bench mark high for a modified 2010 Camaro, and we have plains to be back in the spring to break 190 mph. For now MTI Racing is happy running a record 182 mph with our 639 rwhp 3800+ lb Camaro.

I checked out your website looking for more info about your car setup but didn't find anything. What I am curious about is how did you cage it? I think you need a full cage to run over 175 mph plus other safety equipment like fire extinguishers, lug nuts and studs, parachute, etc. I raced mine at Loring ,ME this summer and I could only tech for 135 mph. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I anticipate that we'll need more safety next time after posting some intense speed this year. |

WOW!!!
They let you get away with that kind of speed with no roll cage or other safety equipment. I got my ass chewed out and they asked me to park it after my last run. I was planning on leaving after my 3rd run so I stayed in it for the whole run. I ran 160.145 mph on the computer limit for the last quarter mile. The dash said 155 but the actual speed was faster. Loring track is 1.5 miles to the timers. Only mod i had made to that point was a muffler delete. The car was very stable and controllable at that speed. I hit the first turnoff after the traps and nobody over 120 mph would even try. How did your run feel at that speed? Do you plan on legalizing it to meet their rules and how would you cage it if you do? I don't think I could bring myself to chop a cage into it but I am interested in how it would have to be done.

Where did you do 160.145? That's pretty damn quick. I got up to 156.8 in the mile bone stock. No cage is required at the Texas Mile until the 190 tech. That's the "limit."

Loring ,ME. They use ECTA rules like Maxton. There was some Texas boys running a Trans Am up there. Nice guys. Check out this site.

At this point we intend to keep the car as normal as possible, so that customers can equip their car with MTI Racing products for Camaro, and own the streets in similar fashion. For more info on our Camaro products, please visit http://www.mtiracing.com/2010-camaro.html Here is the other car we brought to Texas... ![]() |
