Outdoor Car Cover

What cover are you using if parking outside?

I am picking up my new Z later this week. Knowing it's not fitting in the garage and it will need to stay outside I'm researching covers. I've looked at Cover King and Cal Car Cover so far.

Must be some nice cars in the garage. I have tried several but we have to much wind. I cannot keep them on the car. I gave up and just use a lot of wax till my shop was done.

I used the NOAH fabric cover and a tie down for wind. But this was on a car barely driven / stored in the winter months.

If you are driving frequently and just keeping the car outside. Just keeping it clean and waxed is your best bet, instead of covering a dirty/dusty car all of the time.

This will be a weekend/track day car so it will be under the cover for the most part. I'm not to concerned with wind here in FL but I'll definitely use a cable/lock to keep it secure.

I'm also planning to have a paint protection film put on the entire car. Reading info on some of the car covers it says not to use if the car has been wrapped. Not sure why this would make a difference...

Just remember to dust it off before you cover it then.

They might be talking about vinyl wrap for color change, as with covers can maximize dust and scratch damage, perhaps it ruins vinyl pretty quickly?

Look up Hugger covers, make great covers indoor and outdoor custom to individual vehicles. I have several and currently ordering another one.

I bought the California Car Cover Ultraweave for mine. Very nice quality, and I tie the bottom down with some rope to help with the wind. I did notice it rubs on the paint and leaves some marks. This car is due for some buffing anyway, so maybe that and some sealant/wax would help. I had a noah cover for my 2006 gto before I sold it, never left rubbing marks on the paint but it did end up falling apart at the mirrors. Hope this helps.

During windy weather, I run a couple of bungee cords end-to-end between the wheel wells around the front and back end. Works much better than the "lock" cords that some covers come with. Even if the wind gets up under the middle of the cover, having the ends tied down will keep it in place. The bungee cords don't rub on any finished surfaces.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm probably going with the California Car cover.
