Lower back pain
Hello everyone. Has anyone experienced lower back pain from driving your camaro? I've had my car for almost 5 years now. Lately it's getting to be a pain in the ass (literally) to get in and out. It is my DD, it might be time to trade it in for something bigger like a truck :/

My knees have been getting worse. Nothing from the back yet hopefully. My need to change the incline of the seat bottom

Yes but only one trips over 1.5 hours. I was doing a 8 hour trip and after 2 hours I was in such pain I had to pull over and stretch. The next hour I was at it again. I adjusted the front of the seat a bit and the pain subsided but 30 min later it was back. I had my jacket on the passengers seat and pulled the arm of it and put it behind my lower back. Bam pain gone the rest of the trip. The lack of lumbar support is the worst i have ever seen in any of my vehicles. I now have a small airline pillow I put behind my lower back on long trips and I am good.

I've had back issues for a few years now (degenerative arthritis); but driving the Camaro doesn't bother/irritate it and I've taken several long trips (driving 8 hours plus a day). I've learned from driving my other vehicles that if I raise/tilt the front part of the seat up slightly higher then the back I don't have any back/leg issues.

I suffered from lower and upper back pain for years, s4 and s5 degenerative disks, contemplated back surgery and made it harder and harder to drive my car despite the fact that i was in reasonably good shape. Almost contemplated surgery before I found a great specialist, found out it was more of a matter of weak back muscles that you need to do certain exercises daily . Those muscles once they get weak or hurt shut down on you even though you stay active you need specific exercises to restart them. My advice find a good specialist to who can recommend some exercises you can do at home daily. Maybe takes 15 mins of my day a few times a week. Hell pm me and I would email you what I have. Changed my life.

When ever I get back pain, I use the right foot method...press down firmly and when the endorphins hit....no more pain....lol

Also there are pillows to support the small of your back that might help. |

You may have a back problem and not even know it, I have two blown disks at the base of my spine from jumping off a semi in the frozen tundra and slipping. I found eventually using a teeter hang up side down thing to decompress my spine and cortisone injection into the spot made the pain go away from the sciatica which shot pain down my leg.
The car on a long trip does lack a little lumbar support though, and over stuffing the seat could be done by a good upholstery shop to provide more support if you don't want a cheap lump you strap to the seat. I have never had to use one, but getting old sucks.

I used to have a lot of pain in my lower back in my late 30's. Over the last 12 years, I have had both hips replaced and my left knee. Things are much better now. I bring this up suggesting that you find the source of your pain as soon as you can. It may be very fixable.

I've considered this, as well as getting the centers of the seats upholstered in suede/alcantara. Adjustable lumbar support would've been a nice addition, but it only starts to get uncomfortable for me after 4 hours or so behind the wheel

That's why I traded my Camaro SS for the Chevy SS. The Chevy SS is much easier to get in and out of, because it site a little higher.

I've driven mine 14 hours plus in one day multiple times and found it more comfortable and easier on my back than anything else I've driven. So I'd agree to try changing the seat positions and also one other thing I haven't seen mentioned - make sure you do not have anything in your pockets, especially back pockets. My wallet caused problems until I started sticking it in the console.

I have fused L5/S1 and DDD... pain is pain, no worse than any other vehicle. I have Recaro's, and have driven over 800 miles straight thru a few times and they are pretty supportive.
As others have suggested, move around, nothing in pockets, make sure and stretch and re-hydrate when you stop for fuel.
