i'm coming home..
First car at 15: 89 2.8L V6 5 speed
First financed car at 18: 98 V6 3.8L Ttop auto Current car: '11 Toyota Camry..... Grew up..became a dad...more responsibilities..less money..needed a bigger and 100% reliable car for the babies.. Those days are over, and I'm coming home! Just need a little help from this community..I'm at a crux. I've never had the real deal. I've never had that sweet sound of pure American muscle. I had the look, but not the power. Now, my budget is about $22k max. I could do more, but it's just not financially wise just yet. So the question is this - do I look at the 2010-2012 used SS and get my power? Or do I get the comfort and look again with a 2014-2015 LT? I have found the absolute sweet spot seems to be a 2013 SS, as it looks like that's when they changed to the more modern features like the touchscreen and backup camera, but that's just slightly priced out of my range (hoping to stay under 35k miles). Sell me folks. Please sell me.

Sounds to me like you already know your answer...
"I've never had the real deal. I've never had that sweet sound of pure American muscle. I had the look, but not the power." Why even buy another car that doesn't fit your desire? Either get your V8, or keep saving.

I would never spend $22k on a used V6. EVER! I have nothing against the V6 or those that own them. I'd just never spend that much on a car unless it's everything I want it to be. Get the SS. I bought a 2010 just over 2 years ago for $25k with only 14k miles on it at the time. People tell me all the time, it looks brand new and well, besides the year it practically is. I'd get the SS without even debating anything less.

im happy with my v6.good power and quiet, but i drove a big block pontiac with headers/duals/cam for 25 years so i have enjoyed the sound o power back in the day.im going to play the devils advocate here.look for a 2013 SS with all the toys and slightly more miles(50k?).if i costs a couple of grand more,so what? if you really like the car maybe you will keep it long term like i did my pontiac.i saved enough by not buying other cars to pay off my house early, and by the time i sold it i knew every nut and bolt that was not on the inside of the transmission.BTW my kids rode home from the hospital in that car,it was a family daily driver, and they survived just fine.

SS all the way! Plenty out there with decent miles that are well within your budget.
