There is a known issue with somethingt in the automatics, shifter assy related that causes difficulty with key removal, or sometimes key cannot be removed at all.

Turn the wheel slightly. Try both directions, it'll come out.

Same issue, 2014 2LT. Key won't release. I end up turning the key back to the on position, shifting in and out of park and trying to take the key out. Sometimes it takes a few tries before it releases.

My car is a lease, and I am not going to be happy if I need to replace the shifter assembly and or get billed back for it.

Sadly, this is already a replacement shifter, when I first got the car I had my dealer install the footwell lighting, and they scratched the original shifter bezel. Cost to replace is not cheap, over $200 if I remember.

Same thing happened to my car. Had to take it to the dealership to have the shifter assembly replaced because it wasn't engaging properly and would not allow me to take the key out sometimes because it wouldn't fully engage in the "park" position

They didn't cover it under warranty did they? Can I ask how much you were charged if they didn't?
