And so it begins

Hi All,
I have a pretty much stock 2012 2ss L99. My neighbor up the street had a 2013 and bought a set of the High Flow Cats. He totaled his before ever getting them installed. I bought them this last weekend for half of what they go for online. Will I need to get a tune after installing these? Trying to avoid the dreaded CEL Thanks in advance!!

Not if you use the O2 extenders that come with Solo cats. If they are a different brand you can get them at most auto parts stores.

Either o2 extenders or tune them out, those are your options. If you plan on modding your car to any further extent, I would recommend getting a SCTx4 handheld tuner from DynoSteve. It will maximize the most out of your gains and with free tune updates for life, it will pay for itself in no time. Good luck and happy modding!

Excellent news here. They are the solo cats. Still in the box. Going to install this weekend. Looks to be pretty simple. Hopefully. Thanks for all the insight. That's why this group rocks!!

Congrats on the score OP! Solo cats are the least likely to throw a CEL. However, if they do, Spec is right. The O2 extenders are the best way to eliminate a CEL on high flow cats. Enjoy the new awesome sound and performance the car is going to pick up! If you really want to wake your L99 up, get a good dyno tune that includes a transmission tune. Your car will be a completely different animal!!

Careful with the O2 sensors. They can easily be cross-threaded. If whoever ended up with my SS needs to replace one, they are screwed.
