A look inside the LFX intake manifold...

About a month ago I ruined an LFX intake manifold, rather than throw it away, I decided to cut it open and show the world the magic inside the LFX intake manifold.

some still pics to follow.

As you can see, each runner inlet has nice big radii. Almost like each runner has it's own individual velocity stack. There really isn't much you can do to make it any better on the inside, and it's practically impossible to get inside anyway without ruining the manifold. Sure I could pack it with filler everywhere, and try to reattach the sides I cut off, but I don't think it's worth it lol

Yes, this is very cool. So it seems the runners feed into the intake ports on the opposite side. So the air on the left side of the manifold is going into the right side of the engine, and vice versa. Yeah? If so, then I assume then that when the air enters from the front, it immediately goes hard left and hard right into the sides of the manifold, enters the runners, and then crosses over into the cylinders on the opposite side of the engine. Cool.

Jason, your the man! Thanks for the inside look of the intake manifold. So how does the Extendolator help improve on GM's design and increase and change the torque curve? I am very happy with my purchase of your manifold spacers. My recent dyno graph showed that with your product, my torque curve stayed within 10% of peak torque from about 2950 rpms to 6750. Very impressed! Recommend the Extendolator spacer to antbody seeking increased performance from their LFX Camaro motor!

Cool stuff. Are these manifolds ultrasonically/friction welded together? Just curious.

Comparing this intake to the new LGX, it looks like the LGX has more plenum area compared to the LFX from the outside shape. More plenum area to support the slight increase in displacement I assume. However, I wonder if there were any improvements in runner design compared to the LFX.

Since your testing showed about a 10% improvement in flow versus the LFX intake, I guess GM probably did make some improvements in the runner design.

I have not seen them side by side, any chance the LGX will fit on the LFX?

No chance, unless you spend a lot of money building an adapter.
