2010 L99 exhaust question
I have a 2010 SS with the L99 engine, and I did a muffler delete on it back in November. Initially, the car was much louder than before, when it only had cherry bomb glass packs. Everyone in my family commented on how much louder it was. For some reason, the car does not seem as loud as it was anymore, even during cold starts (outside temp ~55). Even people who haven't heard the car since the initial delete have asked why it is quieter. Does anyone know what might cause this? I still have the resonators on to eliminate cabin drone, but I want to find a way to make it a bit (not a lot) louder. Any suggestions? Thanks!

2010 L99 exhaust question
You probably just got used to the way it sounds. I thought my car was loud when I got headers and such done, but now I think it's quiet again. Lol

I don't think it is just that. Like I said, people who don't hear it all the time think it got quieter

Well idk what to tell you then. Get headers or remove the resonators. A muffler delete shouldn't make your exhaust quieter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My L99 had muffler and resonater delete, with Xmidpipe when I bought it. Sounded great. AFM a little annoying but not terrible.
I since added long tube headers and hi-flow cats. Now sounds AWESOME! I got a tune as well so no more AFM. Car has a great exhaust note, not obnoxious unless you go to WOT! I love the sound and see no need for an axle back system. Then again exhaust sound is a personal choice and taste can very widely.

You've experienced some hearing loss, that's why.

Maybe he has a Clog?
Cats maybe, although it is more likely to be ear wax/the initial shock has worn off. You can check your cats and resonator, or wait for it to start running really really poorly. Download a Decibel meter on your phone... eliminate as many variables as possible, like wind, road noise etc, to a control test to see what it reads next to the car at idle and maybe a certain RPM... doesn't help from then til now.... but if it is getting worse, at least you would know. After that, Headers and High Flows are in order.

Honestly I think we just get used to our exhausts. For you it may be different as you said you've had a few others verify it's quieter.
In my case, I have longtubes, no cats, (muffler delete at one point) and now the SW retro catback. So it's not close to quiet. I do feel it's a lot less loud now though, even though standing outside and listening to someone else drive it I remind myself it's in my head haha.

On the cheap....get rib of that crappy resontaor thingy. Add a resonated X Pipe.
On the flip side....exhaust starts up front. The proper way is headers, hiflo cats on stock exhaust. Oh, and eliminate that annoying AMF.

So I decided to go ahead and install a Corsa Powercore CAI. Holy crap, that thing makes my exhaust roar! I'm positive that it was my stock intake holding back my exhaust. The sounds I get upon acceleration and startup are music to my ears. Not to mention I can definitely feel a difference in HP and accel times. Totally worth spending an hour in the Texas heat installing it!

CAI, Long Tube Headers, no CATs, factory H Pipe & Muffler Delete is loud and free flowing plus the car will be about 50+ lbs lighter.

If your stock air filter is suffocating the engine because it needs to be replaced and the ECU is compensating for it, it will absolutely make a difference. But good part for good part, I would agree, but he started with an obvious fault and I'll bet would have had same result with just a new filter. Just my opinion though.
