SC runon

Hey everyone:

Been a lurker for two months. I picked up a '13 Z auto coupe w/ 2.8 k on it 6 weeks ago. I've found two issues that I have not found posted here...hopefully someone can chime in.

1: The relay/heat sink (under the fuses on the right inner fender) will not stay clipped in. I can either zip tie it or screw it to the fender. Suggestions?
2: I have been on 50 rides thus far. All short distance except 3. Twice now the SC has run on...and stayed on. I have no acceleration at this time. The engine keeps running, and the only noise is from the SC. At all other times the SC works flawlessly, and makes no noises (other than the whine it is supposed to). I have taken the cover off and found no pulled lines or hoses. Could low coolant cause this? Or air in the system? Or is a vacuum or hose the likely suspect? I ask this because I found a pierced hose on the SC return line. I topped off w/ Dexcool and DW (about 1/2 cup). I installed silicone tape on the piercing and am installing a D3 reservoir this pm.

The first time the SC locked was on the on ramp and I was punching it (probably 3/4 throttle at 40 mph). It was locked on for about 5-6 seconds this time. The second time it locked was from a stop and I punched it (probably 1/2 throttle from 0 mph). It was locked on for 8-9 seconds this time. There are no mods other than a CAI that I installed a week ago.

Thanks, John

It runs (for 5-9 seconds) as though I'm flooring it (but I took my foot of the accelerator), I'm assuming with a lot of boost because there's a lot of whine...but I'm not accelerating.

Might want to pull the blower belt off the sc pulley and spin it with your hand and see if there is a restriction and also a good chance to test if it has play or not this will tell you if the isolator has. Even changed to a solid one

So. You are at idle, floor it, and then let off, and the sc runs for 5-9 seconds? Is this what you mean? What does your boost gauge read at idle and at full throttle?

At idle on start up: "vac."
At idle cruising (no throttle): "1/3 to 1/2 way between "vac and "30"."
At full throttle: "press."

I completed the SC reservoir install, so any air pockets are now gone (if that was the problem).

I'm not sure what you mean by runon? Or the SC is locking on?

Yes. I stated runon because for 5-9 seconds after not throttling the SC continued to "run on" like I was flooring it.

This has happened only twice (in the 50 or so times I have punched it).

Do you mean the engine runs on? It's impossible for the SC(supercharger) to run by itself.

The engine continues to run...but I have no throttle for 5-9 seconds. The SC whines as if it's at full boost. I think it is but this has happened only twice and I was more concerned with traffic and other things than trying to read that hidden boost gauge while I'm coasting w/ no throttle. Then all is normal.

This has only happened twice. I installed the SC reservoir yesterday and tried to reduplicate by flooring it...full boost...for 7-8 seconds...no joy...it ran and accelerated beautifully. It's clearly an anomaly. Not a good feeling to have no throttle on a busy freeway or city street.

Could this have been caused by an air lock in the SC cooling system?

So your giving it throttle and when you let off it the engine continues to rev? is that what I'm gathering here?

Never heard of this?

The S/C pulley is directly tied the crank pulley so this is basically impossible....

Can you grab some video somehow of this happening?

Was the car tuned at all? Any mods when you bought it?

Is this guy trying to troll us???

Supercharger is belt driven from the crank pulley, so for it to "runon" once your off the gas is impossible.
