Newbie questions..just bought a '13 ZL1
Just bought a victory red '13 ZL1 manual transmission convertible with 26500 miles from original owner. No mods, all stock except for hurst super shifter, black out kit, invisible bra and built in Passport Laser.
Some newbie questions... 1. Is it wise to replace snout and isolator coupler (with a solid one)? There is no current evidence of malfunction. 2. What grade type of gasoline runs best in a stock example? For example grade 93? Ethanol or non-ethanol? 3. How difficult/expensive is it to acquire a written build sheet for my car? 4. Is synthetic oil best for these engines? What brand is the best? (Prior owner used synthetic). Thanks Rick |

1. The isolator may have already been addressed. If it rattles it is covered under warranty, and I would address it at that time.
2. 93 octane only. 4. Synthetic oil only. Most prefer Mobil 1. |

1. you should be able to take the car to your local GM dealer and ask for a service history, at the very least the should able to tell you if the isolator has already been done.
2. you can run less than 93 octane, we don't even have 93 premium here, just 91. If you use crappy fuel, your car will run, well, crappy. The ECM will pull timing to match the fuel, robbing you of power. It will probably hurt fuel mileage (if you care about that sort of thing) as well 4. what JB said |

The car runs fine on 91, it is the only thing available in many states. 93 is better but 91 is fine.

Have another question.
The seam at the top of both mufflers look like they have failed. See pics attached. I would like to replace with the same GM muffler. Has anyone had theirs replaced and did you have a Chevrolet dealership order the mufflers and install? |

Not for sure, but that may be an intentional weep hole for the mufflers. I would not replace unless you can hear a leak. I'm sure others who know will chime in.

If you must replace the mufflers I would consider aftermarket over oem. Oem is not that bad, but you can get some free hp if you must replace.
