2010 Camaro SS RS headlight issues

Hello all,

I just discovered that my drivers side headlight was out. I have a 2010 SS with the RS package, aka the halo lights. The halo works, but the bulb inside did not. Before I went off buying a new bulb, I removed the bulb on the drivers side headlight and plugged it in to the passengers side harness. Its not a bulb problem because both bulbs worked on the passengers side. Just for kicks, I tried the passengers side bulb on the drivers side and it did not work. Therefore, I'm guessing its something to do with the harness on the drivers side. Like I said, the halo on the drivers side works fine.

Sorry for making you guys read all that, but can someone point me in the right direction for a replacement harness (I think thats the right word) for the drivers side headlight?

Thanks,
Matt

Does anyone think it could be the headlight fuse? I would like to think that is the problem because it is a cheap solution.

Could be the ballast on the drivers side that is bad.

Hey Panda Ass, I agree with Low Saturn, probably a ballast.

I'm tending to agree that it's a ballast issue. There was no fuse issue, I just checked that. I also noticed that there is a distinctive "click" that I can here with the hood open on the passanger's side (working side) that is non existent on the drivers side. Does this point towards the ballast? If so, can I find one cheaper than the 153 dollar one on gmpartsdirect? Thanks

Just to provide some closure to this thread, the headlights are fixed. I disconnected each ballast, inspected it, and then plugged them back in. To my surprise, the one that I thought was broken started working again. I think a connection must have shook loose at some point.

As a side note, You do not have to remove the bumper to access the ballast/ most of the headlight assembly I was able to get great access to both ballasts by putting the car on jackstands, removing both front wheels, removing the plastic inside the wheel well, and removing the windshield washer reservoir. Removing the dex cool reservoir would have been nice in hindsight but it wasn't necessary
