Taillight Blackouts
Hopefully I can get a little input from anyone that has purchased the taillight blackouts for their Camaro. I have purchased two different sets now from two different companies and I'm having the same result. About 1/8" of taillight is showing after it is installed. I have tried moving it around to find the best placement but the result seems to be the same. Now I'm not here to bash any of the companies I have purchased from or call them out or anything like that. I don' think I am missing anything as the installation is pretty straight forward. In order for me to get the taillights completely covered I would of had to heat up the blackouts and really stretch them out which I think would be unnecessary. I have contacted the companies and have already received a refund on my first set and waiting for a response on my second set I recently purchased. I was curious if anyone else has had a similar experience? I just want to get this modification done and over with and not have parts of the taillight showing in the daylight

I have these and didn't have to heat them up or stretch them. I actually had to tuck them under the bezels.

This is one of the kits that I was looking at that I have not purchased yet. I was looking at it though as another option. I was reading through the reviews and saw that someone had a similar experience which concerns me about purchasing them.
"Reviewer: Jeremy Fitch from Porter, TX United States great addition to the car. the kit covered all the lens well except the taillights. didnt cover the entire lens. about 1/8 all the way around still showing." |

Wasn't intentionally going to point fingers but that's where my first set came from. Excellent product and customer service, just the fit wasn't right.

I'm kind of at a loss now because it seems that it is by chance I may get a set that fits the way I want it to. I assumed from the start that all of these blackouts covered the entire taillight but I'm 0 for 2 right now.

Go to a tint shop and get them tinted there. They will actually cut out the film to fit your taillights perfectly and you can also choose how dark you want them to be.

Taillights used to have a requirement that they could be viewed from 100 feet and brakelights from 200.
The specs were updated and now taillights are 500 feet and brakelights 1,000. There have to be reflectors on the brakelights and sidemarkers visible from 200 feet. (varies by state). So the tint companies are limited as to how dark they can go. I knew a kid in collage who ran into a parked car and the result was not pretty after she went through the windshield. At ~20MPH. It was an idiot (and idiot is a kind word) who parked on the wrong side of the street so the headlights, with no refelecters, were facing oncoming traffic. A simple trip down a sidestreet...

Yeah I contacted BigWormGraphix and they were very prompt about responding. Had some emails back and forth and I sent them pictures. May have been a small miscommunication because I was hoping to exchange them for a different set but they refunded me my money which is fine too.

I think all these kits are hit or miss honestly.
