Question Race Ramps and Wheel tubs for simple installs?

I finally have time to start doing some work to my car and I'm looking for advice and opinion on using race ramps and their 12'' wheel tubs for things like header installs and fluid changes in my garage.

I don't have to drive my car every day so I would rather start in my garage and take my time. The other alternative is using a lift at the nearby base auto hobby shop but I'm not crazy about leaving my car there if I hit a snag (break something, need a part etc).

Anyone use these or a similar setup? Will the header install annoy me to death if I don't use a lift?

Thanks for the input.

I did my header install just on jack stands. It wasn't that bad at all. Yes, a lift would make the job easier, but it can be done from the floor without a problem

I used Race Ramps for my header install, and I use it for oil changes as well. Went on to buy a set of Quick Jacks, for brake and suspension work. Race Ramps will get you through most maintenance work.

Thanks for the input guys. I think the 12'' wheel tubs from Race Ramps will be more solid than jack stands and give me more room to work as well. I plan on doing most of this work at home.

Thanks again.

Or you could make them out of a couple of wood planks for cheap.
Only draw-back is they are very heavy.
The car is rock solid when on them like it is sitting on concrete. lol

I don't think they are that expensive and I like the two piece option. My garage is pretty crowded. I think the wheel tubs are kinda cool too especially if you need to slide around under the car and don't want to work around jack stands.

Would you recommend them? I was thinking about pulling the trigger on a set and was wondering if they really were worth the money? Do you have any complaints with the system?

Yes I would recommend them... I have the 5000XL which is a 5000lb capacity. I have did suspension work etc on my 1le. I will be using them again when I do other mods to my car. They are very easy to setup and use.

Yes, I would. I went with the 7000XL so I could also use them on my truck. You're still on your back, but access is excellent, and you can be under the car working in 10 minutes once you get the placement down and are familiar with them. Well made, and safe as anything out there. I would have preferred a true two or four point lift, but just don't have the room for them.

Race ramps... Only gripe is I should have gotten the long ones. With the splitter and 1" drop I had to get the extensions for my HD ramps... the 11 degree incline was too much. Extensions fixed it, but I should have done it right the first time. Even with that I love the two piece design, great for oil changes. I did the headers on jack stands. Race ramps would have been so much nicer.
