Tape Stripes or Paint ??? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Any suggestions or comments on whether to tape stripe (spear stripes) on the hood or whether to paint them on ? Also want to do the rocker panels and rear quarter side cutouts.

i say go with the stick on bob so if you get tired of that look you can change it for alot cheaper i had my 69 Rs/SS i had painted satin stripes everybody hought they were stickers you can tell the diference unless you clear them and i hope to see you at hooters saturday danny with the CGM is coming lol

I have the tape and they suck!!!!, I'm going to take them off next year and do something custom with the paint. I have had them from the factory put on and its been a little over a month and they are bubbling.

Hi Jim, Thanks alot for the info, I probably will have the spear stripes painted on.
I had a few cars (not camaros) with pinstripping and the same crap they started to peel when you wash the car & wax it on the edges of the stripes. Thanks for the info.

Paint, mine goes to the shop Monday for painted stripes.

Paint them. The stick on ones will wear over time, they are harder to wax around, and if you ever decide to take them off in the future you will be left with paint underneath the stickers that did not fade with the rest of the car over time. The stripes will also stand out more if they are painted on.

Yeah I'm going with the painted spear stripes on the hood cause the stick-ons don't come to a point, I guess it's because the tape will come up more easily if it comes to a point. Also going to do the rocker panel and the rear cutouts but only the shadow box
on the cutouts not the full stripe (paint of course) saw it on a red-jewel tint and it looked great. Plus painting the chevy emblem on the wheel caps black and the outline of the the 2 backup lights.
