Math ? 47 seconds to 165MPH, how long to average 150MPH?
So Silvetstate is in 2 weeks and i dont have my trusty navigator Jason with me, Im taking my girlfriend. I want her to enjoy this so she does it again and to say the least she is nervous. The best i can figure from the video is it takes me 47 seconds to get to 165MPH my speed limit, i want to average 150MPH for 90 miles for a perfect time of 36:00. How long once at 165MPH do i have to maintain that speed to be at an average of 150MPH so that i can then just keep right around 152 or so to stay on time?

I made an assumption about your car's acceleration curve and found that to get to 165 mph took about 1.6 miles. From there it looks like you match your 150 mph target at very close to 5 miles in at within a second or so of 2 minutes flat.
Your best bet from there would be to work off time hacks at distance increments. Even minutes come up every other minute (every 5 miles). This does assume that your tripmeter was reset to zero at the start and agrees with the course measurement (or at least statute miles). She could keep track of how early or late you were at getting to any given mile. Years ago I was involved with time-speed-distance sports car rallying. I have the times to distances out to the whole 90 miles in a spreadsheet. If you know how far off your odometer is, it'd be about a 15 second task to correct everything to suit. Good luck. Norm

Or once you are driving your DIC has an average speed read out. If you reset that just before you take off then you can use that as a guide to tell you once you have reached an average speed of 150 mph. I would also pick some mile markers that you know a given distance and you can then calculate how long it should take you to get there at a 150 mph average. Say 10 miles in you should be able to comfortably know whether or not you are on your 150 mph average pace or not.
