He is part of the GM Camaro Engineering Team. There are 7-8 guys from the team competing at the Nationals in CAM-C and F Street (sponsor shows "GM Careers.com".
Alex is quick because the Mustang is 2nd is a very fast, experience driver with a developed car. I think Alex' car has the ZL1-1LE suspension.

Alex works for a Camaro guy I'm sure many have heard of: Mark Stielow. Great guys out there representing GM and the Camaro Team.

Must be nice. I don't suppose mere paying customers will ever get access to that kind of support?

Is there a big difference between the zl1 1le and 1le suspension? I guess I was under the assumption it was the same magnetic ride in both? I'm thinking now I'm wrong.

Big differences. ZL1 1LE uses Multimatic DSSV, monoball's vs. rubber bushings, and aluminum pucks for rear subframe mounting vs. rubber bushing.

The regular ZL1 and SS 1LE have the "same" FE4 suspension, though spring rates are tuned for each trim's weight.

1SS 1LE has the magnetic shocks (MRC) and the ZL1 1LE has the spool valve shocks (DSSV).

Doh, Ryephile beat me to it.

There's support for the idea, but details need to be worked out.

I find it more interesting that a GM supported car is running the ZL1 1LE suspension set up on an SS 1LE. Maybe this is some of the R&D testing and proving grounds to justify a future option box for the SS 1LE to get the ZL1 1LE suspension as an upgrade! Would be cool to see.

Probably more so due to the adjustability of them for the particular class he is running in?

Not sure if I would even buy them if they were a choice unless I was tracking the car A LOT. As the ride with MRC is way better then the spool valves. My buddy has a 5th gen Z/28, the ride is over the top stiff.

The DSSVs aren't adjustable other than height in the front. They run whatever parts they can scrounge up.

If they sell the parts for roughly the same as they sold the DSSVs for the Z/28, I'll buy day one.

They ran in a class where you can change suspension, they ran ZL1-1LE springs/shocks/bars and wider wheels than SS 1LE. They wanted to lower the car and increase overall roll stiffness which is obviously common when going from stock class to class with mods.
