Headers dont fit
Hey guys
i got some headers a while back but recently installed them. Issue is that the header will not fit properly. The header on the passenger side currently hits the heat shield in the engine bay. is there any solutions to this problem? |

What brand headers did you buy?

That was my first thought. Depending on the brand they may send you a new header. Other than that you could always trim the heat shield.

I betcha anything they're BBK. One of the guys I used to play around with had the exact same mods as me except his headers were BBK and his CAI was a K&N. His headers were all up on the right frame rail and shield and the left side was hitting the steering shaft.

I'm having an issue with my passenger side headers being against the frame. I have 1 7/8" Kooks long tubes with high flow cats. The car has an awful vibration and rattling sound when idling since I have put them on. I tried putting a piece of exhaust wrap in between the frame and header to see if it would stop the vibration and rattling, but it didn't. Anyone have any ideas? I was going to try and contact Kooks tomorrow.

You have to move the wires behind the heat shield that are pressing the heat shield out causing a bow in the heat shield and no space between header and shield. It's nothing to do with the header on that side. I have JBA long tubes and same issue. It's a simple fix! Just unbolt the heat shield and and work some wires away from the side of the heat shield. There are a ton of wires behind it. Once you get the wires back some you'll be able to press the heat shield back on and press it some to give some gap. You won't get much space but all you need is about an 1/8-1/4" gap between heat shield and header. Take your time as it is sharp and tight space. I was able to get 1/2" on mine.

Do you think it will move it off the frame as well? It seems to just be barley touching the heat shield up top?

When jason0902 reveals the brand of headers , it will become easier to figure out the problem . Most of the time a reputable manufacture gets it right ,but some times a bad set slips through. Contacting the manufacturer about the fitment problem is the best way to go.

I hate to say it,but on cheap headers.you need to hammar in the tube alittle. It does not hurt performance.there is a video on here somewhere, where they basched the hell out of the tubes, with little to no performance hurt or spend the money and get name brand headers they fall into place.lol

If they are high quality headers..make sure the engine is centered in the mounts. Loosen the mounts, shake the engine around, retighten mounts. Still don't fit, return to vendor.
If they are a cheap Chinese garbage, sledge hammer the hell out of whatever pipe is offending the frame contact. |

I had the same problem, you have to adjust the motor mounts.
