LOUD THUDDING NOISE

Hey guys:

Whenever I'm at a complete stop and I I move forward, I hear this loud clanking then a thud coming from below my transmission and in the back (by the tires)

I figured that it could be:

-Transmission mount
-The bushings
-Bad suspension

I only hear it at the start.

Has anyone had this problem?

Is it stock? If not, what are the mods?

How would your sons football helmet get in his trunk?

Check to make sure the exhaust is tight and not hitting the brace below it.

Sounds like universal joints as anything that goes clunk on a drive line usually is... And you should be looking at all your driveline and axles..... and your trailing arm and toe links etc Rubber bushings do age and weaken and some parts move on a suspension some just a stationary so the moving parts would be what could make the noise. And the exhaust should be well suspended and free from any interference with the frame or anything going back.

Pull the e-brake firmly while rolling along at 2-3mph with the car in neutral. That will give you a diagnostic test to rule in or rule out the drive-line. If it still clunks, it's not the drive-line. I know my whole rear cradle moves a lot more than I would like - the car rocks back and forth on the cradle bushings a cycle or two when I give it the e-brake test.
