Another Z/28 gone!
I always figured my first post would be about mods or a track day experience but it is not. My 2015 Z28 #677 (white with stereo & ac) has been deemed a total loss by my insurance company with no chance of retaining it.
The disheartening part is it had 2200 miles on it and it was sitting in my garage prior to the loss. As everyone probably knows Hurricane Harvey dropped a lot of water on South Texas. During the whole ordeal we only received maybe 10 inches of rain but I live close to the gulf and crap rolls downhill. It was a week after the hurricane was gone before my house flooded and my garage sits almost 2 feet lower than my house so you know what happened. My Z was sitting on ramps and blocks as I was expecting maybe a foot of water but the water came up 18 inches overnight and continued to rise another 6 inches over the course of 3 days. I was able to walk to the house the first day and save a truck but the Z sit too low as the water was already starting to cover the aero while it was on ramps. The rest of the story makes me so mad so i digress. It was the greatest thing I have ever owned. But its better to have loved and lost........... I dont plan on replacing the Z for a while as the house will command much of my attention for probably the next year and there will be no extra funds. The Z owned me for almost 2 years and I loved every mile of driving it. I have watched the Z section from the shadows since I took delivery and will continue to do so with a bit of sadness. So get out and take every opportunity to enjoy your Z/28 because tomorrow isnt a promise for us or our cars. Goodbye friend. I thought we had more time. |

I don't own a Z/28 - and I likely never will as my life calls for an automatic transmission - but damn do I appreciate them. That's an awful story, makes me feel sad just reading it. Hopefully you and your family was safe during the hurricanes - you can always replace a car...

Sad, sad loss for you. It is just a car, but that's not one you can easily replace--as we all know. Thankfully you and your family are safe and there's better times ahead as you rebuild your house and your lives in SETX.
God speed.

Sorry to hear ! But you are right better to love and lost . Man , hearing this makes me sick to my stomach because I couldn't imagine losing my SS. Which is my second 5th Gen , even though I've had it for 4 years . Wish you and yours a speedy recovery from the flood, though.

Thanks for the kind words. Everyone is okay and the house will come back better than ever. A lot of support from family and friends is seeing us through these trying times. I lost a lot but there are those who lost everything so I am thankful to have what I have. Thanks again.
