Looking to add some HP over the winter.

It seems like every track day I do I'm always having trouble holding off new Z06s. I realize they may be better drivers than me but I also realize I'm about 150 hp less and 500 lbs heavier. So I'm looking for suggestions for adding about 75-100 more hp or so. I'm bone stock now so I was thinking ARH headers, katech cam, msd intake, valve springs and tune. Can someone chime in with specific suggestions as far as parts? Also looking for suggestions for a place to install in the northeast.

Most will tell you the stock intake is sufficient. Spend that money on a ported throttlebody.

Cam, headers... if you can afford it, get the heads ported

Do the heads at the same time as the cam - may as well address the valve guide issue while you're in there.

Agreed. WCCH does a great job. Stage 2 is what you want to do. What's your budget on this? 100 hp on the dyno in this car will be over 10k if you have someone do it.

I read on another post on this forum that that a ported throttle body does not add any hp. It will only improve throttle response.

From everything I've read on this forum there is no valve guide issue on these heads. That issue is Z06 head specific? In fact no one can cite a single failure of a valve guide on a Z28.

How much does porting costs go? I'm looking to porn my Zl1 snout myself or get someone to do it professionally.

Cheap insurance if you're planning on tracking the thing a lot - especially given you'll be losing the factory warranty. I'd rather spend $10k on the front end and not worry about it than pop a motor and spend twice that to be left with a stock engine.

Of course I will sound bias but, take a look at the Vengenace Racing site. They offer different stg packages to suit just about any budget. It was the main reason I bought my car with the stg 5 already done. Take a listen and watch the video in my sig.

The valve issue is still there. There's been 3 documented cases I know of with Z/28's. When I did my cam, at the advice Jeremy Formato of FASTERPROMS, I swapped my heads too. Yeah it's a small investment, but it's worth piece of mind.

We see you're not very far away from us. Call or shoot us an e-mail to talk about your Z/28 goals. We have many options for not only power, but track durability as well.

That is a work of art! Nice job it looks awesome.
No good for me though. I need NA for the racetrack. If I was looking for street driving I would definitely consider.
