Procharger filter placement? Sucking in heat from headers.. Fix?

Has anybody came up with a fix for the air inlet sucking in all the heat right off the header? I was feling around after I had just got done installing my procharger kit and the top side sucks in 100 degrees cooler air it seems and the bottom of the filter is piping hot.

Wonder if wrapping the headers would cool temps down to the air filter? Or possibly making like a sheet metal block right under the air filter to keep the heat from going straight off the header into the air filter...

Let me know if you have any better ideas or if any of you procharged guys have done anything about this...

Here is a pic of the filter placement I'm talking about...

Somewhere in my F-1X build thread there is a pic of the heat shield the shop installed for mine. Also, my aftermarket hood just happens to have a vent right over the ProCharger inlet filter.

Well I just sort of flew though my build thread but I did not see a good pic of the heat shield they installed for mine but it wasn't anything fancy and my AIT is typically only a few degrees over ambient so it must be helping. I pick up the car tomorrow from the Brodix heads install and if I remember I will try to snap some pics for you.

I promised you a picture so here goes. Not sure how well you can see the shield but it is nothing fancy, but pretty much just a deflector.

You run an air-to-air intercooler set up on that don't you? It really doesn't matter how how the air going into the filter is, as the blower will heat it up anyway, and the air-to-air will lower the temps.

What are your current IAT readings going into the engine? That's the important number.

Thermal Management

Have the inside of your headers coat and titainium wrap the out side
Use their Stage II intercooler that relocates the MAF
Install an oil cooler
Vent the hood

Hope to have it back Sat. Will see if can find a side view. Found one.

look at some kind of hood venting, per above something right above the filter would be best like the old Z/28's that had the 2 hood vents...thinkin about somethin like that for my ride instead of the 1LE setup...

I also remove that back hood weather strip..let's a sh1t load of heat out...peace

Not sure if the placement of the ESS Tuning kit (Vortech V3Si) is the same as the Procharger inlet, but here is their solution to sucking heat off the headers.

Based off this pic you don't have a strut bar. I am looking to get the D1x but I am going to have the holley sniper intake manifold so there would be a bit of a difference there. And since you have the stage 2 cooler it should help lower the air temps that are going to your engine a lot better.

In regards to doing that.
What would be the option if you have a stage 2 intercooler.
Because since it is so big it will interfere installing an oil cooler decent enough to get the car having lower oil temps as well as lower IAT.

This I agree with. More than likely adding a heat shield won't have any impact on the actual air temps going into the engine. Especially on a centri setup. But without knowing what your IATs are we're all just guessing. Before you go to great lengths with a heat shield I suggest you see what the IATs actually are.

How do you like that kit ?? I am trying to save up for that kit as well and it is tempting just to get the P1x but it will be limited to power. Is your engine forged or is the procharger on low boost ??
