Z isn't a $40k car..... more like $50k
As of today, there are 26 Zs listed on Auto Trader.
w/ all listings included...... Median price & mileage are: $47,333 w/ 4,286 miles. Average price & mileage are: $48,869 w/ 5,386 miles. Removing a few outliers (3 cars w/ over 10k miles and one w/ 107 miles listed @ $69,999) then the values are as follows... Median price & mileage are: $47,666 w/ 4,019 miles Average price & mileage are: $49,581 w/ 3,865 miles I only point this out because there have been a few threads claiming that the Z is now a $40k car. More like a $50k car. Assuming bought at MSRP that's 33% depreciation. About on par w/ most other vehicles and, based on previous reviews of prices on AT, the prices do seem higher than a few months ago.

Lots of cars with asking prices that make up your numbers. Actual sale seem to be in the $40k-$45k range. Wholesale Auction results are limited but all recent start with a 3. And range from $35-$39k So while $40k is a generalization market is clearly in the low to mid $40 if you need to sell. Lot a car for the money at that level!
The recent Mechum no sale at $55k was a seller error if they wanted to move the car. But likely an original owner who paid MSRP or more and not educated to the market. After commission that was a good price for year and miles. At that may have decided to simply keep it and keep looking at it! |

I agree 1000%. Although, price doesn't really matter to me. Ain't no one getting mine.

I think this is starting level out.. The engine, CCB, tranny
and wheels are better than anything in this price point >> Let alone the sum of its parts. My .o2 |

My other Z which is CTF #66 has been for sale on Autotrader & Ebay for a little over 45 days, many offers below $40,000, for what the MSRP was, the options this car has, combined with the low production build numbers, makes this car a real value at $50,000. Mid 30's is an insult. As stated previously, real car guys know what this car really is.

I look at this car every day, have it in my eBay watch list. I wish I could make this work, it’s a bad time to sell a convertible though. Know anyone looking for one with low miles? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

WRGAF?...as my buddy, a car salesman says "you may not be the ass for this seat but there is an ass for every seat."
Unless your selling or need to inflate your personal financial statement what does it matter? I don't care if they are selling for $100k or $20k...I am going to drive mine until my attorney calls my beneficiary to let them know it his/hers now. |

think of it this way... How likely is it that GM will build another 427 N/A camaro? They will surely build more FI track variants... but will they be called the Z28?
The car is special. I wouldn't put too much stock in current market values unless you're planning on selling. |

'73 Z? Love that body style. If I ever do buy a classic car... that'll be it!
