you had the shim on an angle and you gave it whack to hit it in...didn't you...was this to check for proper setup or final? if final take it out and have a competent machine shop whip you up a new steel one..easy peesy and next time try to drop it all down as straight as possible working each shim down a little at a time... it has to be a very snug fit...good luck...peace

Last tap and it cracked. Back lash is kinda tight at .04 it was looser with the stock posi. I didn't hit it with the dial indicator but you can feel a difference.
I figure after some miles, it will losen up a bit. I didn't change the gears but I did put new bearings on the carrier. Pinion wasn't touched.
