Dyno results! LOD intake, ported heads and T.B.

Just picked her up from the tuner. Last year this time I installed the TSP stage 4 cam 235/239. Made 473hp/ 414tq on the dyno at 6700 rpm. This year I installed the LOD speedworks intake, had my stock heads cnc ported by Wegner Automotive and my TB ported by Bo White. Same dyno, same tuner... Made 524hp/ 413tq, this reading was taken at 7050 rpm. The graph was still climbing north but the tuner felt it would be risky taking it any higher. This is an increase of 51hp, and the tq essentially stayed the same. Seat of the pants dyno is a huge difference. I'm very happy with the results!

At first I was very confused at the low torque number but then saw that beautiful curve

You have quite a rev happy monster there

Lol... he was worried about floating the valves and smacking the pistons.

as long as the springs where shimmed to the cam you can go 7500+

Nice gains. Trying to understand why your torque #s are so low with that cam. I thought most were seeing 430-440 tq,with that cam, maybe i'm wrong just seems low even with the factory intake. You did not dyno with the ported heads and the factory intake did you? I would like to see what the gains were for the heads and then for the intake.

I did not, was not worth it to me to pay the tuner to swap intakes. I did ask about the low torque last year when I got it tuned... I thought it was low. He said it's the 3.91 gear ratio...

I reassembled the heads, and yes I did shim the springs. I lapped the valves, measured spring height and shimmed accordingly. Since they did not do any of the work they were being cautious...and I did not push them.

Torque is low because of the intake manifold. Was it on there last time?

No...it was low after the cam install. The tuner said it was because of the gear ratio. After the intake, ported heads and tb it stayed the same...Picked up 51 hp though.

Thoughts? Gear ratio, or something else?

Gear ratio is not the issue. I would guess your cam is retarded a couple degrees. The way its making power at 7K it would want to be shifted around 74-7500 for best ET and MPH. Nice gains with the intake. Had you ran it before at the track? Your car is craving more gear. 4.33 would be dandy in it!

I have not taken it to the track. For better reference here's my timeline.

Bought the car in 2015, 14000 miles. Bone stock.
Installed headers, z28 cai... Made 440/431.
Next year, tsp 235/239 cam... Made 473/414
This year, LOD intake, ported heads and tb...Made 524/413.

Same dyno... same tuner...

Nice numbers, but yes your torque is low with just CAI intake, SP headers, HFC and tune on my 13 I made 491 HP and 448 Torque on a old 235/239 cam but that was when it was .639/.623 and I had 112 lsa. I know the gears do matter in the read out but also its most likely a non load bearing dyno compared to the Mustang dyno I use. I would say its the gears making that low torque but it proves out the intake is good making more power. Wanting one in red someday for my beast maybe..if they don't make one for the ls7 ...? Small bore heads are on my wish list also. Unfortunately dynos and tuning are only as good as the tuner and what software and how experienced they are on what dyno on what conditions and etc...... Your torque should drop off more though at the end of the run for that cam heres my old dyno and maybe the intake helps or ....... ?

I get unsmoothed from my tuner as it is the norm for being able to show the actual working of the dyno and the possible problem areas.

The intake manifold is the reason for the torque being low and the peak being so high in RPM.
