2012 Camaro stuck reclined please help

I have the opposite problem that I'm reading Everywhere else. Seat only reclines. It's stuck nearly all the way back.

Anyone have a part number for just the recline motor, or a way to get this damn seat up?

Sometimes mine will not recline and is stuck in the normal position. I read somewhere that if you use the latch on the back of the seat and let the seat fall forward, slam it forward and back, it'll reset it. It worked for me.

SS Redrum- Thanks. I've tried this every which way. Unfortunately this seems to apply when the seat is stuck all the way Forward only, and has tripped the switch inside the seatback. I'm not so lucky here :(

Mr.Jgunn65-Tonight I'm going to pull the switch out of the seat and apply 12v directly to the lead going into the switch. If the motor doesn't spin up then I'll know it's the motor. There is almost nothing out there on this subject matter. I was able to find a picture of the motor in the seatback frame, and they do sell recline motors online, just not sure if for our vehicle. I'll update this thread, as I can't drive the damned car until I fix this stupid issue

I've got a video I'll post up soon that I made however I pulled the seat apart and pulled the switch off. I ohmd out the wires and found position g and h on the switch handles recline up/down. It can't be activated with a normal 12v source, it's wired funky however i was able to test the Switch using g and h, then moving the switch position left to right. Switch tested good so motor is bad

I was able to pull the seat easy enough and unzip the back and pull the recline motor but gm tells me it's non serviceable and I have to replace Entire seat back frame. Ugh.

I found if you pull motor, pull clip off the long rod then pull the rod out a little, you can put a wrench on the rod to manually adjust your seat position.

Had this happen to mine.. as I'm the only one who drives my car I took the switch from the passenger side and connected it to driver side, adjusted the seat to desired position then returned the passenger side switch (they're side dependant And will not fit) I left the drivers side switch unplugged until I can be bothered to replace it.

good info v8only, im new to the forum and in need of this motor for my pass seat, did you ever find one?
if so where and what was the part number?

dealership claims its not serviceable as you have described, they do have the driver side recline motor, I wonder are these interchangeable from side to side?

thanks to all on this forum, tons of very good information!

Motor isn't serviceable seriously. Couldn't find it. And after all that trouble for the life of me I can't get the motor and the seat back frame to bolt together right. So the seat leans to the right and flexes now. To add fuel to the fire, despite me testing the switch with my volt meter, I found out the problem was the switch the entire time. I got pissed off and started beating on the switch and it worked a couple of times.

Live and learn. That's the price I pay for insisting I repair it my way. Now the seat is all screwed up, I have to buy the entire frame with motor now to fix what wasn't broken. I still need a switch too...ugh whatever.

The motor used to be serviceable. When mine did this several years ago, my problem turned out to be stripped plastic gears in the motor. I bought a new GM motor and installed it and no more problems. As I recall, that splined shaft had to be "clocked" correctly to keep the seat back from twisting.

hum... well mine is missing, i picked these seats up for my 1981 z28 (budy has a 2010 and i like the seats - cheaper than a set of tmi or procar seats) my driver seat works all 8 ways but the pass is the one missing the recline motor, whoever removed it threaded one end of that splined shaft so it has a nut on it now and no clip, if i could find a motor it looks easy enough to re-install. if I have to buy the seat back frame and all i would be better off selling these and getting some procars as it would negate the savings

You will not find the motor. I tried. I even tried the manufacturer with nothing but dead ends. I think the seat frame with motor though is only 150
