MTI racing. Like $389 but recommend professional install about 2 hours. Trans needs to be lower a little to install this one. Best shifter I have ever owned.

Got mine back in Septrember...$329.
You do not need to lower the trans and the install is simple...VERY simple. Why pay $150 when you can do it in your driveway. Install is easier than playing PS3 or lawn darts.

I bought the hurst, easy install. Today I removed it.Removal just a easy. I then Installed Barton Industries short throw. Installation same as Hurst. The difference is night and days better than Hurst and $179 less expensive.IMO.it's a far better shifter.
If you want to go Hurst I have one for sale! |

I also have the Barton short throw and it is awesome. It is by far the best value for the price. Works great, no noise on mine at all.

As an architect, I am very performance / material specification oriented in my work. I just installed the Barton Short Throw Shifter on my 2010 Camaro SS LS3 six speed manual transmission. Prior to installing, I did considerable product research and even test drove two Camaros with the Hurst Shifters installed. Personally, I have had Hurst shifters on two of my previous cars in the past. They have good brand name recognition and appearance. They are a very respected manufacturer in the market. That is about where it stopped for me. I drive my Camaro daily. I did not like the clicky feel of going through the gates/gears on the Hurst shifter or the particular noise of the shifter. Perhaps additional sound deadening matt would help with this shifter.
The Barton Short Throw Shifter is an very solid engineering piece of work. I understand that these guys come out of the aircraft CNC industry where the right and closest tolerances are extremely critical in manufacturing. I installed the shifter in approximately 1 hour. The instructions were very good with simple to follow photo illustrations to supplement the written instructions. The installation was easy and went without any glitches. Perhaps the most difficult task is putting the underside rubber dust boot back in place. I had a friend work in tandem with me to put it back in place. (I worked from the driver's side and he worked on the passenger side underneath the car). It wasn't bad at all. I also recommend moving the heat shield over to help gain a bit more working room. The shifter works flawlessly! Again, I have said this before - I believe that this Barton Shifter is the best, single investment that I have made on my Camaro to date. One thing you really appreciate first off is the precision and ease in which the Barton shifter moves positively through the gates. Another big perk on this shifter is in its height adjustment flexibility and the ability to change shifter knobs with relative ease. Of course, I believe that the biggest perk on this shifter is in its quiteness and overall daily drive performance, unlike what I experienced on the Hurst Shifter. Barton hit a bases-loaded grand slam home run in its design! You have to physically see the CNC quality that went into this shifter to appreciate it. |

Here is the installation video for the Hurst Shifter. It breaks it down step by step and is actually pretty easy.
