Help I think I messed up my battery tender

Hey everyone first off let me say everyone here has been great about help whether it was for me or a fellow member and I want to thank all of you very much. My probblem is that I got everything else ready and was going to hook up my tender under the hood when I had it hooked up I plugged it into the 120 v outlet. At first some of the lights came on but only for a second then they went out never to come on again. Does anyone think it's fried or could it be charged enough that it isn't needed yet
any and all input is appreciated

If your battery is fully charged, something like 13.6 volts, the tender will shut off. Try it on an old battery.

Mine has a light on it. When it is amber, it is charging. When the light is green, it is fully charged and on standby. It is a Schumacher and it sells for $19.95 at Walmart. Where do you have it hooked to? Mine is hooked up with aligator clips to the auxilliary under the hood terminals. See "jump start" in your owner's manual.

Did the breaker trip where you have it plugged in? Does the outlet still have power where you had it connected?

Mine is also a Schumacher Tender. I hooked mine up with the alligator clips directly to the posts on the battery. When I first hooked it up it showed a steady red light meaning it has power from the wall outlet, then the amber light turned on showing it was charging, that stayed on for about eight hours, then the amber light shut off and it now has a steady green which indicates that it's fully charged and in standby. So as it sits right now, I have a steady green and red light. I would think that you should have some lights on. What model do you have? What does the manual say?

Check the fuse Box on the Camaro. On my motorcycle, if you hook things up to the battery wrong it will blow the fuse(s) to prevent messing up the electronics...

Mine is a Schumacher connected directly to the battery terminals. It has a little buzzing noise and green light is on. I wonder if the distance from under the hood would affect it.

I have about 1/2 dozen Battery Tenders. I use them for various motorcycle batteries. They are very good quality, and never cause a problem.

1) First completely unhook & unplug the unit from the wall & the battery. I'm not sure if it has an internal circuit breaker, if it does this will let it reset.

2) Simply plug it back in & rehook on the battery. I use the terminals directlly, as someone else said, double check POS/NEG.

Battery Tenders ALWAYS have some color of light on (Red,Yellow,Green) when hooked up, but if you simply had one clamp not make a good contact it could not light up.

Simple........and I hope this helps. Art

Mine is hooked up under the hood. It is a Schumacher. I connected the clips to the auxiliary terminals, then plugged it in. It stayed amber for about 8 hours like a previous poster said, then it turned green indicating a full charge. I also have a Harley accessory tender hooked up to my Harley and it works the same way. I have the quick disconnect cable attached to my battery terminals on this. I was wondering what would happen if I disconnected my SS's battery to put the quick connect cable on. would it clear all of the memories?
