New Brakes (powerstop) Squeal after it Rains???

So I just installed new Pads and Rotors all the way around my 2010 SS. I purchased Power Stop Z26 Extreme Performance Pads. They are great unless the car gets wet while its parked. If it rains or dew gets on the car over night. The 1st few times you apply the brakes they Squeal there butts off!!! After you stop once or twice it goes away. My Previous car was a Mazda and after I did a brake job on it - it did the same thing but way worse... Only way I was able to fix it was some new Brakes pads from AutoZone (ceramix Pads). Having Just Purchased expensive power stop pads I would rather not replace them with autozone pads, But I hate the squeal. Anyone have any Idea on how I can try to fix this issue? Thanks In Advance, Cory C

Probably surface rust on rotors from rain water. After you stop a few times the rust is gone.

well Just a little update, not sure if anyone is interested. They seem to be getting worse. I called Powerstop this morning and they were very helpful, said I should not be having any problems with these pads... After we talked for a little bit they decided to send me a New set of pads to replace these noisy ones. Lets hope it was just a bad set or something. The Powerstop people were great though. Very Helpful!

Not to spook you but I had bad luck with my powerstop setup. Rotors warped after a year and now I'm replacing them with R1 concepts.

I am already spooked! We will see how it goes. She was suppose to send me an email confirming the shipment and that never happened? now We will see if the Pads show up or not?

Bin doing a bunch of reading and watching video's. Two things that seem to be possible fixes are new pads and several people recommend Hawk Ceramic. Another thing I have seen is some claim there is a need to LUBE the Pins & edges of the pads with Copper Anti seize? I used some Brake grease on the pins but did not do anything to the edges on the pads...??? This is Frustrating lol

well to finish up this deal. I actually got a replacement set of pads from Power-stop and did everything I could think of, scrubbed all hardware clean, got some copper never seize and carefully applied it to the recommended places. At the end of the day there were squealing again a few weeks after they were installed. I eventually decided to try a different pad all together. So I ordered some Centric Parts 105.10010 - Centric Posi Quiet Ceramic Brake Pads from Summit racing. These new pads are 99% quiet... I do get an low squeak every now and then when I 1st leave but its so much better its not even funny. Its really only rarely they make noise. Its great to not be embarrassed when I am backing out of a parking spot now! =) if I are having problems you might want to give these Centric pads a try

I am having the same problem and its embarrassing. I have a 2011 Camaro 2SS convertiable and bought the powerstop z26 performace kit from Summit> I choose them based on reviews here and other places and the price of the kit and no one once mention this problem till I saw your post or I wouldn't have bought them. I really hate to spend money on new pads, I had to go on disability last year so money is tight right now. So is there no other solution other than new pads? I would contact powerstop to see if they would replace them but what good is that if the replacements do the same thing. I got good braking low dust and generally like them but backing out of the garage or a parking space sucks because everyone looks it sounds so bad. We tried some CNC brake squeak stop to the back of the pads and it didn't work. Powerstop has to be aware of this problem wonder why they haven't fix it and why no on mentions this in their reviews, it would have been nice to know this. Has anyone else found a cheaper solution other than brand new pads? Wonder if Powerstop would give me a refund? So upset about this if anyone has another fix please let me know.

Arkangel-77 did you replace both the front and back pads? It seems to be coming from the front but I did a complete front and back set of rotors and pads. I am going on the website now to trash them. This has been going on for 6 years and still haven't fixed it.

Aggressive, track oriented pads can squeak. There may be nothing to fix. I had a set of Hawks DTC70 pads on ZL1 front brakes that liked to squeak. Oddly, my new setup with Gen6 ZL1 brakes using Hawks on GiroDisc rotors does not seem to squeak, but I just bedded them in.

The Z26 is the more aggressive version from Powerstop. You probably should have gone with the Z23 or factory replacements. For daily street driving, I run standard semi-metalic pads. It's pretty hard to find any parts that deliver exceptional performance with excellent street manners.

Not sure why you feel embarrassed from a little brake squeak due to a performance pad, but your feelings are your feelings. Finally, from a performance perspective, no dust = no brakes, so do a little homework and choose a pad appropriate for your driving.
