Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's and wive's here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Its just one of those things.........and that is how the system works, and yes its very anoying..........although it still has to index every time, use a flash drive......a couple a gig flash drive indexes in less than 60 seconds

The best solution is an iPod :(

P.S.... only export cars have changers.

How many MP3 CDs are you using? all of the 6 slots?
I just used one (12 MP3 songs) and 5 regular CDs just to test it and it took a while to index the mp3s. It wasnt 5 min but close to a 1 min for just 12 mp3 songs!

So now I only use a USB stick and my Ipod, just make sure that you turn off the stereo before the car or it will start indexing the USB again.

I gotta try that trick. I use a 16 GB stick with 4,000 songs and it takes a while to index. I read on here somewhere that the system is limited to 2,500 songs. Is that a confirmed fact?

Im using a 16Gb stick too
90% of the time it works, also if you want to start with a particular song just turn the car off while playing this song

My 08 SS Impala has a 6 disc changer. I have all 6 discs filled with mp3 songs (about 690MB each). It takes less then 5 seconds for a cd to start playing when the car is turned back on.

I am not 100% sure on this, but it almost appears that the radio head unit "Remembers" the cd tracks for that disc as long as you dont remove it and place it in another slot.

I removed a cd, turned off the car, took out the key. Turned car back on installed cd in same slot- came on in less then 5 seconds.

I didnt think cars with the cd changers came with flash drive /usb capability. I thought that was why they got cd changers?

Yes, for non-iPods. iPods are only limited by the iPod itself (really high).
