Original battery finally died today after 7 years!
Just wanted to share and see if anyone else has gotten 7 years out of the factory battery .just hit 140k miles.2012 camaro. My car finally wouldn't start today after driving to the Mexican restaurant , with no warning signs. It has been cranking right up for 7 years. Actually it's been 7 years and one week . Very shocked it lasted this long. Definitely a pain to remove lol . I also have subs and an amp. Anyone else get 7 years ??

I changed mine over the winter when it was beginning to crank slow. It was the original from August ‘09. I stored my car over the winter most years and never hooked a battery tinder up to it either.

I had mine changed about a month before it was 6 years. It was getting a bit slow on cold mornings and winters in Chicago can see some brutal temps.
Dealer gave me a discount and free install. IIRC it was ~$170 for the best Delco available. 3 year full replacement warranty. Never skimp on brakes or a battery.

My old car had two new batteries in 7 years at under 15k.
This one is 3 years old and 3k on the clock and its sounds like its not 100% now. :( |

Just changed mine in its eighth year. It is a garage queen with only 20,000 miles and the battery always had a tender on it through the winter. Still pleased with how long it lasted. Hope this next one is as good.

It's no fun when you wait until the last minute. I was lucky in that I never got stuck anywhere since mine was an original from 2011. After this past winter, the first thing I did when I was getting new tires put on, was to have them install a new battery. Sooo much easier than farting around stuck in some parking lot.

I got 7 years out of mine too. I replaced it last year right before Camarofest. Thought I was living on borrowed time and didn't want it to fail while traveling.

I changed my battery after 7 years as a precautionary measure. It gets treated very well and doesn't sit in the sun. In Winter, my Camaro is stored above freezing with a battery tender.
On daily drivers, I change the battery after 5 years. |

I got ahead of this and replaced mine after 80k. This one is still strong and a good 3yrs old already.
If you haven't in 7yrs, think about replacing the starter too. Car starts acting real strange when these start to go. The Coil Packs on mine seem to have no issue right now on mine - I've got a spare set ready to install soon. I changed out the plugs and wires recently. Still very good. Keep that ignition system strong, guys. |
