ZL1 Audio Install w/******** FARC Kit - Fantastic Sound and Looks

I have a 2015 ZL1 - Yellow / Manual Trans / Boston Audio / Fully loaded... Since I have owned the car I have been trying to find fun things to do to it with out voiding the certified warranty which Chevy doesn't want to honor.

So I have a background in car audio and was sponsored by Kicker and Clarion 25 years ago I decided to do a small budget audio build using ********'s FARC harness and add a couple of subs. I chose the components in the build because I am a dealer for those brands no other reason. This is a pretty inexpensive build and it sounds absolutely fantastic!

I am putting this together to help someone else along because I did a lot of research before pulling the trigger.

Here's what I used:
2 - Pioneer TS-A300D4 - Dual 4 Ohm subs
1 - Zapco ST-4X-SQ amp - Interior Speakers
1 - Zapco ST-1000-XM2 amp - subs

The Box
I was pretty happy with the box I bought on Amazon. Build quality was above average for the price but mine got beat up a little in shipping. I resealed all seams and but some polyfil in. I did drill the center divider and wired the subs parallel and out one speaker port for a cleaner build. My sub amp only has one speaker output and I hate cramming wires together on amps.

Amp Board
The amp board was built on 3/4 MDF with 3/4 MDF Stand offs on the back. I made a grid to help lay out everything. I precut all my cables and carpeted aftward.
Tip: when drilling your holes out after carpeting use the drill on the reverse setting on the carpeted side so it wont snap stretch the carpet.







Install
The best thing about this install was that I didn't have to run an amp wire from the front of the car. We notched the Positive terminal a little bit and grounded to the front battery mount clamp. You can see where I removed a little paint to get that good ground.



Wiring Harness
I didn't remove my factory amp i just put a little rubber pad behind it to keep it from rattling. I pre-terminated the ******** FARC harness with T-Taps on the speaker wires and I custom made the RCA cables, Notice I ran tape over the RCA to prevent issues with them touching things that could mess with the signal.



Finished Product
With the amp board and all the quick connects I can easily drop the board for maintenance or removal. I also only lost around 10 inches of space in my trunk. I have the interior amp set to high pass at 90hz and the subs to low pass at 100hz. I have the gain bumped a little on the interior to balance against the subs. Another post on camaro5 said how great the boston system sounds with a decent amp... they were not lying these babies are crystal clear and sing. The front firing sub setup makes the bass super clean and tight. This system sounds like a 2500 setup and I have around 750 in it. I would recommend this for anyone with the boston system in there camaro. And Yes all the onstar and backup noises still work great! I literally just replaced a ripped rear mount speaker with some 4 ohm speakers and need to upgrade the amp, but I can't bring myself to doing this much for some extra sound and bass
