MP3's on USB Stick

In preperation for my car's arrival, I bought a 32GB memory stick.

I've already loaded the music on it, and even played it on my test drive last Saturday.

It's not an iPod though where you have playlists, and frankly I don't want an iPod because a USB stick is much more useful to me anyways.

Does anyone know if you can make a playlist on a USB stick that the Camaro Radio's OS will understand? Or am I basically limited to listening by artist, song or random?

I haven't tried it but according to the owner's manual, playlists are supported when using the USB devices (page 6-19).

Quote:
Tracks can be searched for by:
• Playlists*
• Artists
• Albums
• Song Titles
• Genres
• Folder View
*This only displays if a playlist is
found on the device.
To search for tracks:
1. Press the MENU/SELECT knob.
2. Select Search.
3. Select: Playlists, Artists,
Albums, Song Titles, Genres,
or Folder View.
4. Select the track.

Yes you can. Basic M3U playlists work.

FYI, there's a 2500 song limit for the Camaro with non-iPod devices.

Are you sure? This blurb is from from the owners manual:

Connecting and Controlling a
USB Drive
The infotainment system can only
play back .mp3 and .wma files from
a USB drive.
Only the first 10,000 songs are
recognized on the device.
When a device is not supported,
the message “No supported
data found. You can safely
disconnect the device” appears.

The owner's manual is wrong. Check out the PDIM thread in the electronics section.
