Creaking/popping noise while setting on jack stands
Hey everyone, was wondering if it’s normal for the car to make noise while setting on jack stands. I’m lifting the rear of the car from the crossmember behind the diff, and setting the jackstands on the pinch welds with a small cloth in between. As I lowered the car on the stands I heard a lot of metallic creaking and popping, I immediately lifted and removed the jackstands but found no damage.
Is this okay? I’m trying to install the bmr lockout kit so I can’t use the cradle brace next to the pinch welds. Any help is appreciated! |

Get yourself a set of these and mount them in the forward opening. https://www.amazon.com/Dewhel-Billet...ro+lift+points

Are those safe to use with jack stands? But yeah if it doesn’t make that noise when using the pads that might be the way to go, it just seems like it touches the pinch welds but still lowers an inch or so while creaking and popping, I’m wondering if the crossmember isn’t all the way solid

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 You only need to install the lift pads on the front if you are jacking the rear up from the cross member. This is what I do and I have two lift pads that I never installed. I use two floor jacks to bring the front up semi-evenly first, place the jack stands in the front with the pinch weld adapters, then lift the rear by the cross member (single jack) and place the two rear jack stands with pinch weld adapters.

Lift Pads
I had mine on jack stands this weekend using the jack pads. The black adapters on top of the stands help with protection.

So I was able to get the job done without those, I believe the noise I was hearing was the cradle bushings settling
