1980 camaro idea
Just curious, I got this camaro 1980 z28. I want to restore it. My thoughts when I look at it and study it, remembering how pathetic it was back in 1980. Let’s be real, amarican muscle car with 190 hp. That’s a joke. Does this mean it can’t be better? I’m thinking this car could be sweet. Here is my idea. Modify full suspension, LS7 motor with corvette transmission. My reasoning is I want independent suspension all the way around car. I would like to some how fit the torque tube in this car with the transmission in the back. As far as wheelbase, not to much difference in with and length. I would like some feed back, thanks

Most regular cars were 140 hp or less. The Camaro wouldn't see 190 hp again until the 5.0L H.O. debuted in mid '83. Everything had low hp back then. Heck, even the U.S spec Ferrari 308 GTB/GTS (think Magnum P.I.) had like only 237 hp during that era. Porsche 911 S/C non turbo had 201 hp and the Mustang GT had only 140 hp. For the context of the times, 190 hp was actually pretty darn good. |

For most budget builds I would say earlier ls or iron lq blocks can be sourced saving you money for the other supporting mods

Id put the split bumper front end on that car you can swap the rear taillights too but thats a lot of work i know nothing to do with performance but its a good modification

If you want a proven chassis setup, IRS included, just put a full c5 chassis under it. ~$10k get you full rolling/running setup from:
