Another cam thread
I have a 2010 ss and would like to cam it . It has bbk long tube headers with cats and a mbrp exhaust. It has an air raid cold air intake. No tune. I was wondering if anyone has used tick performance torque max v2 cams with ls3 . I’ve searched and couldn’t find anyone using these cams .
I was looking at the stage 2 226/240 on a 112 . I would like to know where it makes it’s peak rpm horsepower and where it drops off because I’m stuck between this cam and Texas speed 229/244 on a 112 . Any input on these cams would be appreciated . Thanks |

I have a TSP stage 1 225/236 on 113 and it made peak power at 6300. Texas speed has the dyno graphs on their website.

Thanks ZZ430 camaro for the advice . I was looking at that cam as well how do you find low speed torque and drivability ? Do you ever wish you went bigger ?

I like the cam a lot, it made 485 rwhp with mild head work and a ported GPI intake. I'm going to add a crank scraper and lighter clutch so it should end up around 500 rwhp. Drives fantastic with a nice shake at idle. Low end is just like stock, no loss there really. It drives really nice, I honestly would not change the cam to a larger one. If you are truly just using it for a street car, which I do, then its perfect. I will run it down the strip but I am honestly not real into drag racing at a track.
If I would go bigger, I would put the largest cam in that I could LOL.

Great choices. But with the bigger 229 244 you dont have to ask yoself if you should have gone bigger. Exactly where I am now, with the 230 236; I want more rpm and power. Gonna upgrade to llsr anyway if I go bigger.

I personally like cams in the 230 238 .625 to .630 lift on a 113 to 115 on a ls3 have installed over 10 cams in that range . Have worked very well

I have that TSP 229/244 with ported milled heads and made 466/429 through a aftermarket stall in my auto.

Texas Speed Stage 3.2 VVT cam here.
Ran 11.77 on a stock size all season Continental DWS 09's leaving at idle with traction control on. I had a crap home-brewed tune in the car as well..... Properly tuned and with a tire, I'm sure it'd have went a lot quicker. When I was n/a 11.77 @ 118.28 run .. 7.6 @ 93.96 1/8... 1.79 60ft |

if you want useable power on the street, get a stage 1 or 2 like you have in mind. duration in the 22x/23x
all the stage 3 and 4 cams shift the powerband higher in the rpm range and your peak number will be higher and also peak higher in the rpm range. you will need to spin the motor high to get the power. you can certainly daily drive a stage 3 or 4 cammed car, but you will not really feel much difference in power until you get it till 4000-4500ish. Off idle through 3500-4000ish, there is no one home in a stage 3 or 4 stage 1 and 2 you will feel the power at around 1500ish

Thanks for the input guys . I really like the Texas speed stage 2 and the tick torque max stage 2 . I actually like the torque max because I can’t find anyone using it . Almost would make my car unique haha . But worries me that people aren’t using it for a reason. I believe that any stick will make it scream and work a lot better . Just looking for some input on these cams and how much you loose low compared to top end gain and drivability .

The torque max is a newer line of cams from Tick, I think. Very similar to the TSP cams. Driving will be a little better with the 226/240 cam. There is about 15 fwhp between them. If you are going to drag race more go with the bigger cam. Call Tick and ask them!

Hey boys know it’s been dead for a while . Kept researching and couldn’t really find anything on the torque max . So I decided on tsp stage 2 . Prc as cast ls3 heads with all the little things oil pump timing chain etc. Also decided on some 3.91 gears . Want to throw some .045 cosmetics to bring quench to .038 and mill heads to 65-66 to get me around 11.4-5 to1 . I didn’t pull the trigger yet but will right away my builder/tuner is ordering the parts when his shop is done being renovated . But I was also thinking about getting some pro comp ls7 heads and changing the set up to an ls7 . I can get the rockers with trunnion upgrades and an intake manifold for 500 Canadian . And the pro computer heads would be 600 American . Was just going to machine my self some off set dowels to run them with adequate valve to block clearance . Any one have any input on the ls7 heads ?
