Pinging sound while car warms up after header install.

Pinging sound while car warms up after header install.
I hear this sound of a bunch of small ticking / pinging sounds coming for the first 5 - 10 minutes my car is turned on. This started right after I installed Dynatech Headers. I have AFM/DOD turned off with a tune, but I'm still getting this pinging noise. Does anyone know how to fix this? Sounds more like its coming from passenger side towards the bottom of the car.

Here are videos with audio of it happening. You can hear it in some of them, not in others. Hopefully this will help diagnose the problem:

I heard it in the third video, sounds like a leak to me, either at the head or the exhaust where the header connects.

Did you reuse the copper factory exhaust gaskets? or new ones? I have heard that he copper Factory can be reused and actually seal better. Can't confirm that.

dude open the door! good way to die. sounds like a exhaust leak. now i think about it it might be the headers hitting something. i heard some people having had this problem.

Hmm, that sounds like mine yesterday after I had my JBA Shorties installed! I called the installer right back and he said they had problems dropping my Zoomers exhaust. I don't see why that should have caused this issue since they connected to the OEM CATs - I have a CAT-back exhaust. I'm bringing it back for him to check out...when he will retorque the headers. leak, huh? I'll check it out myself first.

it had sounded like the exhaust was tapping against that aluminum shielding that's underneath the car...

I think that how random the noise is in that third that the assumption that the exhaust may be hitting something is right. I'd think that if it were a leak at the flange or at the heads it would be more steady, at least that's what I've experienced with header leaks

I put the camera up by the engine, but it didn't really pick up any of the noise. And when I'm in the car it sounds like it's coming from the floor of the passenger side. That's why I was thinking it's not the header>engine connection with the gaskets. Wouldn't I hear it more in the engine compartment if it was a leak with the gaskets?

If you're hearing a ticking sound you almost certainly have a header leak. It's fairly common after the initial installation.
Most installers run the car to heat everything up. Then they let everything cool and check for leaks and re-tighten everything.

Is it up by the engine? Is it down by the Cats?

It's most likely leaking at the engine (not completely sealed.). But you'll have to re-tighten everything to make sure its not coming from the connection with the cat section.

After listening to number three again, I still think it's a leak- not sure where but if it were the header contacting the car you think it would get better or worse when you rev the motor.

Keep us updated.
